text messages

Hi all
I am trying to get my car to read or even see my text messages on my phone.
I have a Mercedes 2014, C class estate W204
I am using a iphone 8, I am able to take and receive call hand free in the car, with no problems.
I can BT my music from phone to command. But nothing happens regarding my text messages.
At first the SMS light was not align, but after disconnect my phone and then reconnecting. The SMS light is now on but message have not been sent to the car, nor does new messages get picked up.

Any ideas peep's?

In the Bluetooth parameters on the phone, do you have "Show Notifications" turned on for the connection to the car?

Checked that and it's on. when turn turn that off the SMS goes out.

Ok. With the phone connected to the car, get someone to send you an SMS and it should give you an alert on the head unit and allow you to read the text. Note that texts received while not connected to the car will not be displayed.

Odd my texts received while not connected show, but I am using Android..

I have COMAND NTG4.5 and an Android phone and it works for me.

Text messages appear in the centre of the top menu bar on the display as a small envelope icon.

Navigate to TEL, then down to SMS on the lower menu bar, click and the text message are listed.

Click to open message.

Further click once the message is open to have it read out.

As st13phil says it’s worth double checking the BT is set to allow notifications.

I recently changed to iPhone 8 Plus and my car was not showing texts whereas it did previously.

Go to Bluetooth in settings - select the circled (i) symbol next to MB Bluetooth and make sure show notifications is selected and coloured green.

At least that worked for me.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all.
I have checked my setting again by checking the (i) next to the MB Bluetooth, and I see the following.
Show Notification is on and green
Sync Contacts is on and green
under groups
Phone fav's is ticked
phone recent is ticked
But still no joy.
In the handbook it say when you first connect it will download your last 20 messages to the head unit.
This has not happened.
I have also unpaired the phone and paired it again.

Any more idea would be great
