403 for sale on autotrader v 277 CLS`s of every variant and every price.

I was at the lights coming home from the pit and one pulled up beside me and made a nice waffly W12 type sound - my in body car DNA started to twitch and even though the mighty reds are about to crucify Madrid I decided to check the trader for Contis.

Bottoming out at £40k ish for a 2005 with 35k miles (huge service at 40k) is a lotta VW Phaeton in drag for your money

What astounded me was the 403 for sale nationally at all prices - truly amazing.

Anyone got an insight into why this prestige footballers mondeo is so prevalent ?

Because people can afford to buy one, but not run one.

Not if you want eat and pay a mortgage as well.

same problem has hit Aston Martin V8 Vantages .. too common now :)

A combination of lots sold (with cheap credit back then), high running costs and end of term finance agreements I would say. If you can, go for it at that price.

My next car in 3 years, or so I said on Saturday. It changes regularly............:p

Why were so many sold?
It's a cracking car and was launched as Bentley won at Le Mans for the first time in 70 odd years. (That was partly my fault!)
With the backing of the VW group Bentley production increased 5 fold.
It became the best selling luxury car in the middle of this decade.
No suprise that there are now so many about, and given the downturn, so many for sale.
There were plans for competition versions...

Anyone know how much the 40k service is?

I actually posted this question a few minutes ago, but it seemed to disappear.

Hmm inbetween watching the mighty reds destroy the Spanish i have had a look around the forums and it seems its tyres and servicing that makes them expensive (plus an aftermarket warranty I guess)

The 40k service is a £2k bill (guessed from various info) and tyres are hard to get outside of the dealer network

If im honest my car DNA is still twitching, I fancy a test drive in one at least - anyone driven a GT ?

Nearest dealer Manchester / Knutsford .... bit far

I own one. Ask away :)

Boss has a GT and I've driven his older one and new one. Lovely car.

Got tyres for his old one at a normal garage!

I have driven a few and I prepared all the FIA homologation papers for the car. Ask me a technical one!;)
Each cylinder head looks like this.....not a lot of people know that.....:o

Just general findings - I am curious if its like a real Bentley or a posh Audi :)

My Bro had a Turbo R in 1990 and that was quite an occasion is the GT ?

Its actually only a bit more bhp than the CLS and I guess a lot heavier but must be very tourqy (torky  )

I cant handle low cars due to an abundance of used fast food around my midriff so this could be late 09`s aspirational vehicle - the CLS is so good I cant decide what to get next anyway and getting a CLS63 isnt really enough of a change IMHO

Druk: LFC - I was expecting much much worse !! and as for going to Manchestoh for a service well its a bit far but the loaner could be interesting :)

I have tickets for the return leg at Anfield (an all home game season ticket) I wonder if I could pop them on ebay towards the GT fund lol

A light blue Bentley GTC with pale grey leather would be my steed of choice for family weekend travel. Quite fancy wafting down to a holiday home in Cornwall, IoW, or maybe South of France in one. Six numbers ought to do it.

My father has the flying spur and it quite literally flies. Interior is beautiful (aside form some dodgy switchgear) and an event to sit in every time. Lambs wool foot rugs make driving bare foot the choice!

Makes you feel ill under full acceleration as the shift in mass is brutal.
