C220 CDI (1999)
Hi all

The AC compressor on my C220 CDI only kicks in when the engine has reached its normal temp. Only then, can I switch the engine off and on again and it works normally. Engine cold and it's all over again.

Suggestion leading to a repair will be rewarded.

Cheers

David

I did not think of that. I am still waiting for other suggestions but you are on the list just in case.

Thanks

There is indeed a auxillary heater but it only works if the outside temp is 7C or bellow and it is to worm up inside the car not the engine.

Could there be a connection?

I forgot to mention

When the AC isn't working even though it is switched on, there is a smell of damp coming from the aerators.

Have you seen my (Stratman's) post 'Intermittent Aircon'?
Sounds similar. I haven't got to the bottom of it either, but I'll go halves on the prize with you!:D
For what it's worth, my money's on that switch on the receiver/drier, but I haven't had the time to get the multimeter on it yet.

hi Stratman

Got it fixed today. Had the receiver dryer changed because of a faulty pressure switch. Saved a few bucks noone thought of that!
