It's nothing new. It's been done before.............. in movies and even in models!

we did something similar with a Mondeo

Cut the back off, weld up the steering rack. This is now the rear end and rear engine, which needs a tube frame and front seats and steerable wheels off an old morris.

Made quite a quick and comic buggy.
