The Carbon itch...

They argue these intakes deliver the air to the engine more efficiently while carrying a greater volume of air. Dare I say, high flow filters do most of this work.

High flow filters do nothing. The air intake MIGHT do something, but without pressure drop testing who knows.
A quick and dirty test would be to measure the maximum output from the MAF sensor, if it has one.
The throttle body is likely to be the greatest restriction.

Hey Will :thumb:

Yep, I'm with you.

There are 2 MAF's. They've relocated them to around the back of the tubes. You can see the red anodised retainer clips in the pics. That's where they'vre relocated the MAF's to.

I'm not too bothered about running test etc. Any gains will be very modest.

Keen to get my car dyno'd and tweaked (did I just say that?!?!) to get it running at optimum though. Mostly because of my recent exhaust work.
As I said, if the intakes help, great.

Hope you're well, Will. :thumb:

It reduces heat soak of the intake.

It is truly a beautiful bit of kit.

I'm over the moon you are pleased with it. :)

Completely agree... now that I have it in my hands, I can truly appreciate just how beautiful it really is. Really appreciated them spending the 5 extra hours polishing it up too! lol!

Big thanks to you for sorting this out for me, Olly! :thumb:

.... now I just need to get the bloody thing installed! :D:doh:

Really hope I can get some help with it tomorrow night.. otherwise it may well be a lounge ornament for a week or so....

Heeey, there you are!
Mr "spoil the surprise" :rolleyes::D

Cheers for the kind words bud.

Good to hear that you had a power gain with yours too!

I'll let you know my car is running when I get round to getting it dyno'd.

In fairness, I gave Renntech quite alot of crap about their Version2 intakes. They really pulled their thumb out and sorted their short-comings.

This Version3 is awesome. A massive improvement!

I know you like your carbon fibre. You should seriously consider it for your SL!

Hey Steve :thumb:

Thanks for posting up :thumb:

I'm very happy with them so far.

Really wish I could post up pictures of the intakes actually on the car!
Hopefully I'll get them on in the next day or so and I'll post up more pics.

Hey Rash...

Looks amazing....:thumb:

Hey Phil :thumb:

Thanks bud, really pleased with it.
.... Just need to get it fitted now! Lol

I think I need one of those trim remover thingys. The handled rods with a hook on the end of it. Know what I mean?

That should allow me to release the securing clips on the oval inlet. Then I'll be able to slip the Y-piece up and off.

Can't get my hands to it. Need one of those trim remover rods.....

Yes, quite possibly those!

I think we're thinking of the same thing.
May need your help then Steve.

I'm hoping a friend of mine from mercedes will be able to pop over tomorrow night.

If he can't make it, or he hasn't got anything to hand that will do the job, then I may well give you a call if that's alright with you?
