Had the dreaded red SBC failure first thing this morning, very limited braking ( great cure for constipation) luckily I start work very early and not much on the road, managed to pull to side of road, turned car off (03 E55) re started and all back to normal again, drove to work and back with no issues, obviously I’ve got to sort ASAP has anyone used John at auto electrician London? I phoned today and he can turn unit around within a week. Codes were as follows. C26BB C26DE C249E C14BE. Only thing I noticed under the bonnet was small amount of brake fluid around brake reservoir cap, probably from excess pedal pressure when I tried to put foot through floor. Any advice on welcome.

Johnny SBC is very good. I’ve used him a few times. Knows these units inside-out
Does he reset the counter or actually rebuild it?

Had mine go out last year in the E320 CDI. Fortunately there was a class action law suit in the US that forced MBUSA to warranty the system for 25 years so the dealer replaced the unit for free.

No such luck over here.

Have you spoken to Mercedes, Milton Keynes HQ. I have heard that they are replacing the units so worth a call at least.
Tried to phone them today, but got put on hold in three different departments so gave up before I started to self harm, I’ll try emailing them.

Please let us know what they finally say.

I suggest you go se them , easy to fob you off on the phone. :thumb:
Yes totally agree, might pop in to my local (Taunton) branch next week as I’ll have the works van. Going to be pulling the pump off on Monday, as well as rear callipers for refurb. Why does this stuff always happen at this time of year?

Leave it in place until you have spoken to MB . If they agree to replace it they will want to do the work . Or they might just supply the pump. Either way I personally would leave it intact until I knew where I stood with MB .

But I guess you are like me , just want to get stuck into it :):thumb:

Yeah just want to get sorted, I will endeavour to find out more information on weather there is a case for uk replacing these parts, and I’ll make sure to post any information, One of my mates father works in the parts department in Taunton Mercedes’, I’ll find out if he has herd anything, just need to get car back on road, as I’m having to use motorbike to get to work, nice in the summer, not so good at 06:30 in the morning this time of year, my wife says it’s character building, I’m not so sure. Still on the bright side, the money I’ll save on fuel will help with the rebuild cost. 😂
