Hi

I am today back behind the wheel of a Mercedes :-) after 18 months away.

I collected our E500 this afternoon, after a bit of a hoo ha with the the Audi, I ended up trading in.

It was sad to see the Audi go, but the E-class is a pleasure to drive.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Best regards

Tan

Looking forward to the pics and first impressions report

Looking forward to pics. Were you happy with the deal you shook on for the Audi in the end?

Hi

I wasn't overly happy with it, would like to have made a grrand more, but it wasnt to be.

I was annoyed by the guy that won the ebay auction, as he turned up and then tried to haggle on the price. In the end we did not do the deal as he wanted to pay £700 less than the e-bay price.

What got me the most. was when he told me that the Turbo had gone......I wouldn't say gone...more never arrived! Its a 3.0 V6 not a 1.8T.

I'm sure a nice long trip in the E500 will make up for it. Can't wait for the pictures too!!!

I went out this evening and took a few pics in the gym car park, so will try and upload them.

back into the fold ... excellent news :)

your pics in the gallery don't work or at least requires signing up to flickr :(

Thanks :-) and I will get the pictures sorted out.

Looks great, very nice with the AMG kit too.

The wheels really suit that car, an estate one of these would be just spot on.

AMG kit sets if off nicely .. as do the wheels

Exactly, I keep hankering after an E55 estate, however I always keep half an eye out for an E500 estate with the AMG kit.

I feel the E500 would just be a better all round estate....don't get me wrong the 55 would be great, but I think the 500 would do everything just as well in more comfort, less running costs being non AMG and a little more subtle.

I have driven a few miles in the car today and paid my first visit to the petrol station. For me the car is perefect, I love the look of the AMG cars but did not want the extra power or expenses, but did want all of the toys so to find this car was perfect.

On the subject of toys, I found a new one today.... heated steering wheel, I didn't even know they existed.

That's exactly what appeals to me about the 500's too. They seem to be very few and far between though.

There are a few about, when I was looking for ours, I found that some 500 don't show up on Autotrader when you select the engine size to cover 5.0's specifically.
