Is there a good way to tell that it’s an S?

Owner of the black car has an email from MB confirming that first service did happen, at MB Brooklands in 2017. The MOT lapsed whilst the car was sat on the dealers forecourt.
Have a look on website Rapid Car Check Rapid Car Check - Free Car Check by Reg 🥇 Comprehensive UK Check as it confirms T5 JAP is an E63S and provides other useful details for free, further detail is available for a small fee, of the cars you have listed the silver one wins on the looks front ....... but I don't like white or black lol

Active massaging seats I find, are very nice.

That S is five miles away from me, but the owner isn’t answering the phone else I’d be seeing it tomorrow.

I think it’s a genuine S but I was just surprised to see those wheels, they’re the standard cast alloy 19s, the S got the 5 twin-spoke wheels which are £5.5k a set - maybe you could spec downwards, no cost option or something?

I’ve seen an S-wagon in the flesh, from memory it has crested headrests, grey seatbelts and contrast stitching on the leather - but if you can get a copy of the OASIS report it should detail the full spec and options fitted :thumb:

ML63 is 690/2,010 litres of luggage space, E63 is 640/1,820, so that’s definitely food for thought. I have to say I prefer an estate though.

Mercedes have it as an ‘S’, note the wheels from the random generated image too! ;)

Hi, just coming back to this- could I ask about the KN16ZFG indicating that it was a demo car? The owner of the vehicle says it just meant it was registered in Maidstone
Forget who told me now, but I was informed that Mercedes demo cars begin with a K. I can't say that is 100% correct though.

The owner may be wrong about location of KN registered cars too,. It's Northampton, not Maidstone. Maidstone begins with a G according to website below.

Not necessarily demo cars however cars with the following first two digits have been registered in Northampton which is where cars are registered by Mercedes for themselves, for their employees and for major fleets (eg hire car companies):

KM, KN, KO, KP, KR, KS, KT, KU, KV, KW, KX, KY

But I worry slightly that lack of options harms resale?

Like most things... not everyone cares about options.

I bought my only AMG with bugger all options and I never had a problem selling it.

You could argue it's lighter and less to go wrong.

Buy a car with the options you need and don't worry about resale too much.

A well-looked after, serviced E63S AMG in excellent condition will always sell no matter what options it has...

You buy an E63S for the performance, soundtrack and the other credentials that make it an AMG.

Options are for boring cars that have nothing else! 😄

Well as already suggested I would wait for the right car to come along,ok the silver one is sold, but I hate it when they say fully loaded when it is nowhere near fully loaded,I am sure you may feel that some of the posters are alarmists, looking at every little thing, but the sum knowledge on how to not buy the wrong car on this forum is second to none, rush in waving your money will maybe end in tears,as a last resort hire a motor for xmas.

I really don’t want to buy the wrong car, but just sitting here and waiting for a good one feels a little too passive.

I’ve tried to use the used car thing on the Mercedes website and I suspect I’m doing it wrong as I’m finding it terrible to use and it’s turning up nothing but E 200 D estates.

I can buy a stop-gap vehicle and then wait, with the money for an E63 in the bank, although that does of course kick off a “what winter beater estate” dilemma.

I will admit that there is a strong temptation to just buy an E63 that’s decently priced and low mileage that has a full service history, without paying too much attention to the options and then swap from that at some point in future when the ultimate spec E63-S turns up.

Buying a used car - especially a used specialist car which is built in some numbers is always a compromise.

Personally I would prefer to compromise on spec than history or provenance, ideally though I would prefer to get a colour I really like.

Being quite a boring chap I quite like these in silver.

The Mercedes Approved Used website is known to be a bit rubbish. Autotrader is probably your best bet - some main dealers list their cars on there.

Is the mileage too high on this 2014 one?
Only standard options listed.
