The E63 I now own.

The S certainly has the cachet, but I suspect that a) the vendor will hold out for ~£38,000 and b) I could presumably install a diff and a tune on the non-S should I find the car somewhat lacking in the trouser department, for less than £10,000?

The non-S has the magic seats, which is attractive, and of course 18,000 more miles, which isn't.
Budget £2.5-3.0k for a quality remap and diff, and you’d have change left

I think the sensible thing to do is the plain E63, although it pains me to say it, that it's ten grand cheaper is very hard to ignore.

MSL Remap £700, 360 camera £700, Quaife £1350 - £1500, Autowatch Ghost £400.
Job done.

I'd be keen to know where I could get the 360 Camera for £700, that's what I've been quoted for the standard reversing camera?

I would imagine that 360 cameras would be expensive with a capital F.

^ Limited slip diff Abs.
Helps putting the power down without spinning up the tyres.

The actual camera is less than £150 brand new.
Or £580 depending on which camera and fitment it needs.
I imagine its the wiring/fitting and coding that cost the most.
Are you sure Rog?

Surely 360 camera involves multiple cameras in various parts of the car?

Yes, cameras on the front ,rear and under the side mirrors for the 360...Edited as answered already

I expected the cameras to be much more expensive than that - I would imagine there is front, rear and two sides, plus maybe wiring looms. I may need to look into retrofitting it to one of mine.

That S is a nice example but I just don’t see it as being an almost £40k car.

Someone somewhere might, but I think I’d be looking at either a £25-30k non-S or wait a while for a 213 E63.

I actually saw a nice one of these (212 E63S Wagon) that was in fantastic condition with a higher spec than this 2016 car, albeit a 2014/15 registered car, mid fifties mileage wise. I think the owner paid c.£27k. about two years back, so I don’t see this one being worth ten grand more with that spec.

Does anyone know, did they drop the forged wheels on these later 2016 63S cars? I know the S originally came with them as standard to begin with - a pity if so!

You might as well go all in and have distronic installed 🤔

Just had a quick look on eBay - shame this has sold as IMHO it would have been good value for an S-model with a fair spec and very honest sounding advert:

You wouldn’t worry about piling the miles on and loading it up with stuff etc!

Still not sure about the wheel situation - that’s an earlier car with the cast alloys (note he mentions about having had to replace one already!)

Keep up at the back, Roger has corrected himself post 188 ;)

Ahhhh, £4376 for a US-spec C-class on a parts-only basis, that’s more like the cost I had expected - that’s a lot! 😳

Yes, retrofitting the options is not cheap, but of course it IS possible, so you can edit a car somewhat.

Not that it is certain I’d do it, but for e.g. (and depending on what sale price is arrived at) the Wakefield car could be dynamic seats/360 camera/LSD/660bhp for ~36k.

I’m actually much more likely to fit the LSD but not do the remap, as it goes, as I’ve gone the tuning route before and learnt the hard way that more is never enough.
