The E63 I now own.

I think it was more to help you justify that S212 63S wasn’t worth £39k! :)

I’d rather spend c. £25k now and save towards a better car in the future. If you’re planning to offload it in 3 years I think you’d lose quite a fair chunk (eg £20k) having bought for that kind of money, whereas the £27k car would maybe still be worth low teens?

That’s my take on it anyway :thumb:

12/08/2019 @ 36919 Miles, Service B

I would assume that it'll be another service A, and it's being done on time rather than miles, as the next service is due at 49,419 miles (according to the paperwork the vendor has shared with me).

08/2020 regardless of miles so if not serviced is actually late.

Regarding the S213, it really needs a test drive as I've read of at least two owners of both the 212 and 213 preferred the 212.
I’m sure some of the changes just take getting used to.

People say this every time a new model comes out :)

The 213 E and 205 C interiors are really nice, you probably need to live with it for a few weeks to appreciate how much they’ve moved on :thumb:

I confess I’ve not driven a 213 63 but I love the looks, and with 4WD and the 9-speed box they’ll be quicker, more sure footed and more frugal too. I’m sure they ride a bit firmer but then this seems to happen on each new model too.

At first I preferred the ride and interior of my old 211 AMGs over the 212 but would you go back now?

The tech on these newer cars is so much better too

They've let it sit on their forecourt I'd guess, how important is it that it's four months late?

Last V5 change 11th Nov.
Tax due 16th Nov.
Unlikely they have had it since before August I'd have thought.
Only you can say how important it is being a few months late.

I agree with all you say Will. What came over from the two owners was one was saying the 213 is rock hard and uncomfortable in comparison and the other saying the car didn't give him the enjoyment he felt in the 212.

I go into any purchase with an open mind, and like you, thought the 211 was untouchable. But everything moves on and no, I wouldn't go back to a 211 by choice. This 63 is so good, but the 213 may be better. It's outside my comfortable price range for a couple of years anyway.

I guess in the grand scheme of things in 2020, four months over isn’t ridiculous for a service if the mileage is low.

MB made a six month allowance for this, likewise VOSA added a six month MOT extension too.

Details here:

Not ideal, but certainly not a deal breaker either. And at least it’s serviced in advance of purchase - so the OP won’t have to get it serviced for another year :)

I do think that an end of an era car (RWD) and large capacity may just stand or something.

The 4wd makes it exciting managing all that acceleration but the character is diluted.

To be honest you could probably change ‘213 vs 212’ to ‘212 vs 211’ with the same observations!

As you’ll know, the ride on the 212 is much harder than a 211 (steel springs up front vs full airmatic) and 19” vs 18” tyres with lower sidewalls.

I can’t see a 213 being any worse in that regard but as you say you need to spend some time in both to decide for yourself.

I didn’t particularly like the 212 interior though, and I think the 213 is streets ahead there

Lol. I love the 212 interior. But I thought the interior in the 212 was a step up from the 211.
All part of the evolution I guess.

When i had a test ride in a 2015 e63, It felt like i was being repeatedly punched in the back under Hard acceleration lol

how many miles in that 4 months?

Well, it looks like I'll be stepping out of a 2006 C55 and straight into* a 2015 E63 on Saturday, so I'll get to compare those back to back.

*A short train journey will separate these events
Glad you’ve managed to reconcile all the differing advice. Hope you really enjoy the E63 you’ve settled on - I’m sure you will.

Original budget was "up to" £30,000. The S caused me to re-consider that, but I think my more sensible side has now won out.

I can't push the budget by £20,000.
You really didn’t listen in man maths class did you? C- Must try harder

😁
