The E63 I now own.

No, it's in Wakefield and I'm in London. If I see it and hate it then the deposit is refundable.
I bought my C63 without driving it on the same deal too in July from a indie in Bristol (i'm in Derbyshire). The garage simply weren't offering test drives which I thought was iffy to say the least, but luckily they suggested a refundable deposit and accepted that spending what I was about to on a car, you really do have to come down and look it over in person (they wanted to do click and collect only!).

It's a risk but you only live once etc :)

Braver than me.
I went to see the car that Nemesis bought, I travelled for 2 hours, I was there 6 minutes, far too many marks on the matt paint for my liking. It looked amazing through the camera.
I'm quite critical I suppose, I travelled 3 hours to Bristol the next day and drove it back home.

Good luck.

For anyone whose popcorn bucket has been refilled as per mine, but has lost track of the cars that have been mooted/considered at Dammit's breakneck speed... this is the one on which the deposit has been placed:

It's a beautiful colour and whilst I would stay away from a black interior, it looks great overall. What's the colour on this?
Just over 1000 miles since last MOT in January 2020...... nice looking car!

Could the chap who had the snow-chains for sale please PM me?

My wife still mentions the time we went from Guildford to Derby to look at an Alfa. I was there all of 5 minutes then we turned round and came home. To be honest staying 5 minutes was only out of courtesy, i knew as soon as i saw it up close. I also went from Guildford to the Lakes to look at Ginetta G27R. I at least drove that which was enough to convince me it wouldn't work as a daily. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and travel if it's a rare-ish car.

988 is diamond silver
Even nicer than Lazurite then, diamond silver tones down the blue and is stunning in the metal; one of my neighbours owns a C350 CDI in it with light interior and I’ve told him that I want first refusal when he comes to sell!

It's 20 mins from me, but he'd be slitting his wrists after I filed my report.

I hope so!

I have been chatting to Mark at Comand and he pointed out (once I sent him the VIN) that the Wakefield car is NTG 4.5 rather than 5, so no Apple CarPlay and so forth, which is a little disappointing, but then I may not care when I get used to it.

Also keen to know this for obvious reasons.
No I haven't been to see it, I just meant I would be hyper critical if I went for a look.
It will look ok as rain/sleet is the forecast, you could do with getting them to take it inside to dry off

Very valid point, never view/purchase a wet car.

It’s inside now according to the sales chap
If you do go ahead and buy the Wakefield car, are you driving it back to London on Saturday?
If so, take it easy. The weather doesn't look great oop North.

Yes, that’s the plan. I will probably buy a return train ticket though, just in case.

The chap selling the E63-S just called me and asked if I would buy the car at £37,000.

If he’d made that offer yesterday before I’d made my decision I might have gone for it, but at £38,900 it was just too much.
