The E63 I now own.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, and the good advice. I’m on the train up to Wakefield as I type this having waved goodbye to Thomas in his new C55 a little earlier.

It’s dry and bright at the moment - and rather chilly. Having owned a 380 bhp 850-R previously I know how much it liked the colder air, so I am very much looking forward to the drive back.

I’ll be stopping in Swindon to pick up a full set of OEM E63 wheels with winter tyres, then back to London - a long day but one I’m enjoying.

I’ve been chatting with Mike at COMAND Online and will be taking the car there for some small upgrades once he’s finished investigating what can be done with NTG 4.7.

What a day! Have fun, enjoy and stay safe 👍🏻

Catching the train reminds me of the few times I’ve collected a car by train. I had the day off work and Mrs D and I caught the train, had lunch on the way, etc.

The bank were slow transferring the money, and the only person who could check receipt at the dealer went home at 1630 IIRC, so the dealer took us home at 1630z

That night we got a text message to say that the money landed at exactly that time (1630) and that they would come and pick us up again the next morning!

That led to two four-hour round trips, at late finish on the Friday, and an early start on the Saturday for the salesperson. I suspect the commission made it worthwhile!

7 days and 17 pages later you have managed to get yourself a beautiful looking machine 😍 That has got to be a quick turnaround by any standards. Got to love the forum. Really pleased it has all worked out for you. Hope it is all you wished for and more. Safe journey back.
Congrats once again. :thumb:

It makes a great noise, seems to pull quite well also. Message on the dash says “change key batteries” and the start/stop is inactive- a quick Google tells me that these things may be related?

I now own an E63.
Congrats. Enjoy your trip home!
Please let us know your initial thoughts of the car.

Congratulations on the new car! That looks beautiful in that colour, really like the facelift front on these. Must be super quick too.

Actually I should probably be congratulating the car, on finding such a caring new owner ;-) Safe journey and have fun.

The stop start light should turn green on the dash after a decent run in comfort mode. Note that putting the transmission in Sport or Sport + turns off stop start. If it still shows an amber light after a good run , the aux battery in the boot probably need replacing.

I don't recall the stop start being disconnected if the key batteries need changing but could be wrong on that. 2x CM2025 batteries required.

Ah! Well I’ll have put ~300 miles on the clock by the time I get home tonight, let’s see if that does it.

It would appear the small aux battery in the boot needs testing to confirm that is the problem.
I understand there is a fuse that can be removed which incapacitates stop/ start so its possible the previous owner could possibly have done this? Whatever, I'd have it checked before buying a new aux battery.

As an aside, I find the first thing I do before setting off is pressing the eco button to disable it. I don't like the car cutting out and restarting everytime I come to a halt.

Car cutting out = serious annoyance = drive in S or pull the fuse
The aux in the wagon is hidden behind the pass glove box area

Shouldn't this have been picked up during the recent service though?
