The E63 I now own.

^Agreed. It's overpriced, especially for the mileage.
But the light interior for me almost makes it worthwhile. So much nicer than funeral black.
Already remapped by GAD.

So, reviewing what we have, and bearing in mind that I need a car for Christmas that isn't my 911, do people think the white car in Essex?

Not exactly exciting in White though is it??
I mean if I could afford such a car I’d rather it look summit more special, Red Grey, Blue, etc

Just abit plain Jane

I genuinely do need a big car for Christmas, and I can only look at what's available. White would not be my first choice, but that one has all the toys and the mileage/price is ok.

I am however concerned about the engine management light being on when it was first MOT'd (and the string of failures!)

The number of owners and questionable service history is a pity on the black car as it looks nice enough - but then again don’t they all.

The thing that bothers me is the first MoT was very late - not done until January of this year (car is a March 2016) so 10+ months overdue. Who runs such a new and valuable car that long without an MOT?

I’d be interested to know more about it’s history, every car like this has a story with it. I don’t buy the 2-owner thing though. Also don’t like the look of those floor mats and seat covers.

MB Brooklands (where it had its first service) runs a fleet of AMGs for drifting around their track. The seller also says it used to belong to MB, and there’s a question mark over the DSB not correctly being updated - just saying! :)

If I was looking to spend £30k+ on an AMG I would explore some of the approved used stock. In my experience they’re often not priced any higher than private sale examples or non-MB dealer stock, but you get 2-years approved used warranty, Mobilo cover, key cover etc and any servicing due within 3 months covered. Worth a look :thumb:

I have had a look at the Mercedes approved-used, but there's nothing (that I could see) in the ~£30k E63 category.

This is what's worrying me about the white car:

I would be filling the car up with mountain bikes and mountain bike kit every weekend- the space of the E63 estate is a key selling point.

I agree. However that was two years ago and as we know it could have been a multitude of things that trigger it, not necessarily major. White wouldn't be my 1st choice, however if it all checks out, price point & spec seem to be very good.

Whatever you decide on, I would be getting a reputable indie in that area to give the car a thorough check over for peace of mind. Shame you don't have more time, but still at least it is a few weeks you have and you are in the best possible position of being a cash buyer too.

Which Indy, local to that dealer, would people recommend?

Also, is looking up the DSR something that I can do, or does it require access to MB systems?

It is the latter. You need someone who has access unfortunately.

Could someone who has access please take a look at BG15GXK and let me know what the service history looks like?

If it’s for mountain biking could an ML63 or GLE63 fit the bill? They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but if long distance load lugging is your thing then they take some beating.

It would also give you the option of carrying bikes inside; on top (roof bars) or at the back (towbar) - AMG SUVs are type approved for towing, and so towbars are available.

ML63 is 690/2,010 litres of luggage space, E63 is 640/1,820, so that’s definitely food for thought. I have to say I prefer an estate though.
