The E63 I now own.

I enquired as to a battery from MB Edinburgh ( via eBay ) and was told their courier won't carry them !

Aux on the estate in behind the glove box and can only be 30 mins if you're doing it for the first time.
Interesting - the service guy told me it was in the boot.

I think it is safe to say that I won't be going to MB Bromley for the brakes and lumbar adjustment pack replacement.

MB Guildford or DDR Surrey is my thinking, would MB Guildford allow me to buy the brake parts from MB Edinburgh and bring them with me?

I think in lesser models it is in the boot, either due to exhaust or the stereo stuff in the E63 wagon

I guess they might have issue fitting alt supplied parts but a DIY isn't too bad, jacking and standing the car at the same time was a hurdle.

What did you use to push the pistons back into the callipers? And did you adjust the handbrake shoes at all or just slapped the new rotors back in place leaving the handbrake gubbins as you found it?

Pistons slid back in easily with finger pressure, no spreader required in my case.

You can press the pistons in by using a screw driver between the old pads and discs before removing and binning them. Bleeding the old fluid out whilst you do this is debatable but I just gave a quick bleed after the new bits were fitted.

Left the hand brake adjustment as I found it, there was no problem or the need to adjust the mechanism in order to remove the old disc from the hub and there was no wear to compensate for.

2. O/S/F seat fault : we have found the lumber support air bag is faulty cost to replace air cushion is £894.72 inc vat (parts to ordered in from Germany 3-5 working days

Pretty conclusive......you think they took the seat apart for that diagnosis or just guessed at it ?

Seemingly a bunch of air supply hoses in and around the chair that if they came loose may cause a similar issue.

I’ll give it a go- what’s the worst that could happen?

That you misplace something incorrectly due to inattention or a lack of familiarity and they cause more damage and give yourself a greater headache!

Why don't you join the official MB club? If you're determined to avoid a good indy, then MB Guildford will give members a 40% discount on labour and a 25% discount on parts.

I just got off the phone with MB Guildford- flat denial of any discount for MB UK members, but offered “platinum discount” due to age of car, 40% on labour and 10% on parts.

That's a shame, though better than a kick in the balls. The detail is listed in the directory which should've arrived with this or last month's gazette.

There is also the option of Star Tec in Tolworth.

If I have not recycled it I’ll take a look in my copy- thanks.

Star-Tec get points for being the first person to come back to me with a quote, but sadly that quote is higher than Mercedes Bromley.

Worth a try.....

You should take a look for yourself, you never know you might get as lucky as me and it might be a simple fix. I reported the same thing to the supplying independent dealer and as they were so far away from me, he asked me remove the back of the passengers chair and this is what I found.
I was told that it is a common issue as some people slump (with force) into the seat and if the air bags are inflated the force pushes the hoses from the fittings.

Note: Not the same car as OP, but a 2016 W166.

That's very interesting - does the seat back just pop off, or is it complex to remove it?

Mine was two torx screws at the bottom, then pull the sides towards you to release the two retaining clips and then the back cover drops to release it from the 2 x hooks at the top.
As I said mine is a W166, yours could be different and YouTube will be your best bet for how yours is removed.

Maybe yours is like this :dk:
