The E63 I now own.

My C55 has an open diff, I'm clearly not enough of a driving hero to view that as a problem - for the C55's 380 bhp anyway.

Is it a Quaife unit that is recommended for the E63 or something else?

Anything wrong with using these on the front? They're C63 performance pack rotors that show as being compatible with the E63:

Those are the ones I have bookmarked for when the time comes to change them.
Don't check the price too often. It seems it increases every time you log on and check the item.
Just under £600 a pair is about the cheapest I've seen them.

Well its definitely and "S" model and that is reflected in the asking price!

18,000 miles fewer on the clock than the other car I'm looking at, £10,000 more expensive, and of course S vs non-S.

In a way the lower mileage is more tempting than the S part, although the diff and the suspension tweaks are tempting.

It looks a lovely example, but I'd seriously question whether it's worth the asking price!
The S edition has a premium of roughly £3k max over the 557bhp version and the options don't list anything other than what comes as standard. Getting an OEM 360 camera fitted pushes it close to £40k.
£34k -35k max is nearer its value IMHO.
Another £6k or so and you are closing on the newer W213 version albeit with more miles.

Saying that, if you do get that one, you'll have yourself a cracking car.

Where it says "Mulit-Contour front seats" is that just a way of saying "stock seats"? I wondered whether it was referring to the dynamic seats which I understand to be a nice option. I am very much feeling my way here though I will admit.

It may be? I always referred to them as dynamic seats. I couldn't see the seat controls down by the centre compartment which makes me think it doesn't have them. Even so, that is the only additional option to standard (on an E63S) if they are dynamic seats.

That car has the standard seats in it. The giveaway is the round lumbar support adjustment button on the outside of the seat squab.

The multi-contour seats have their adjustment panel on the inside edge of the seat squab, with “roller” shaped adjustment controls. The dynamic multi-contour seats have their adjuster in the same place, but the adjustment controls are little paddles instead of rollers. Both these seats have many more adjustment degrees of freedom than the standard seats, and the bolsters on the dynamic ones give you a helpful push to keep you in place when cornering.

Saved the best till last. Yum

There is a thread buried on here somewhere listing all the differences between the S and non S models. IIRC it was not just the extra BHP, but a different suspension set up, LSD, interior touches, amongst other technical bits.

Am struggling to dig it out, but it was quite comprehensive on the technical side of things.

You are running significantly higher power than the S - have you noticed any issues with cooling?

Unaware of the extra cooling, nice.
My non S lists the GV reinforced auto box on the list build sheet.

The S certainly has the cachet, but I suspect that a) the vendor will hold out for ~£38,000 and b) I could presumably install a diff and a tune on the non-S should I find the car somewhat lacking in the trouser department, for less than £10,000?

The non-S has the magic seats, which is attractive, and of course 18,000 more miles, which isn't.
