Quite remarkable what mother earth can do when so inclined....

BBC News - South Yorkshire landslip rail line closed for weeks

That is some serious earth movement, I wonder how many other spoil tips are now suspect. I remember the disaster at Aberfan.

Will the train company be charging extra for the Thrill Ride?

I thought all spoil-heaps were made safe after Aberfan.

Impressive twist on those rails. I wouldn't have believed it possible.

I was amused by the comments on Look North when a spokesman for Network said " The rail line has been closed for passenger safety ".

I suppose it makes life a little easier for the cable thieves.

I had the same problem with my train track in my younger days.

It didn't take me weeks to fix the line.........don't suppose I will be getting a phone call from Network rail asking for my advice.......ah well time for some cocoa.

Mmmm seems like the track alignment is slightly out of gauge to me.
