So I had to get one of my own .......

Tomorrow I shall be taking delivery of my first MB.

A 2003 W220 S500L in Iridium Silver with Black Nappa.

Can't wait.

My 18yo daughter passed her driving test in February and we decided to look at me getting another car and giving her my 54 VW Golf rather than her buying a shed.

So I thought long and hard and made the choice :thumb:

Welcome to the forum and hearty Congratulations on your new car.

You are already familiar with German build quality, the MB will also bring you the best of German technology, less of a car, more of a limousine.

The Golf is also a good, safe car for your daughter... hope she takes care of it.

Don't feel too bad that the Lord didn't buy you a MB..... even Janis Joplin had to make do with a Porsche!

Hi and welcome.

An S class is an excellent car, I see you've gone for a LWB (no danger of your daughter wanting to take that off your hands :D ;)). A Golf too is a great car for a young 'un and will keep her safe and serve her well.

There is a certain gentleman on here who praises the LWB S over the SWB one so another member with one will make his day.

As a scotsman I must draw your attention to our meets we have up here too.

Most of the members are called Derek

Welcome , and congratulations on your new car .

It would be nice to see you at the Road Policing Unit , if you can make it . Please add your name to the list on the thread if you fancy coming along .

Smart move!
I'm sure you will enjoy your S Class, and welcome to the friendly forum:thumb:

Aye and if your name is not Derek then you will be required to change it to become a fully free of charge member living in Scotland.

Will do but my name is not Derek ;)

Please remember, in a S500L all the other traffic seems to be driving slower than you are!

A good choice, i have had every S-Class from the 450SEL (1980) to the W221 except the W140 (The Tank) which i could not face to drive. Lets have the spec and what service history etc etc.

If you wish too, a number plates beginning with S500 are available from the DVLA for a very reasonable price, very popular here in London where there are a lot of them, the perfect town car.
