Interesting to see the bonnet opens and closes like the Saab 900! Never knew that before!
 
Give it 15 or 20 years and there will be cheap ones around , just as back in the 1970s you could buy a W198 for anything from a few hundred to a couple of thousand ( cheapest I saw was a crash damaged Gullwing for £200 ) . Now worth just a bit more .
 
2013 last sls gullwing delivery mileage avail for similar money, sold ex footballer for 50k i kick myself for keeping it

I know someone who bought a 53 Merc and a 68 Muira for peanuts in the oil crisis in the 70's.

Sold the Muira for £265k in 2009.

(wishes he hadn't as it's worth north of £1.4m today.....)
 
Servicing the SLR

My local independent, Steve at Avantgarde in Clevedon, is the indy who also caters for the SLR. Simple, menu pricing:

So, that's spark plug replacement starting at £6k! I knew they were specialist cars but hadn't realised quite how esoteric
