Last Sunday I had a journey from Norfolk to South Essex and managed to get 34.2 mpg
Amazed?
Don't be!

I got a rear puncture and therefore swapped to the spare wheel so didn't go over 55 mph on the journey home which was mostly motorway and good A roads.

I'd rather be getting sub 20 mpg, having fun and not having to fork out £300 for a new rear tyre on a car I have owned for just over a week!

Cheers

Gerry

Wouldn't have gone over 40mph on that skinny little fecker!

What's the average mpg to date?

18.2mpg over 7000 miles in my C63.

I am hoping that the E63 would average around 24mpg with similar driving...

That's alot better than mine

I'm sitting at 14.5mpg over last 5k

Sounds like you travel regular short distances ?

It's not too short mostly town driving but yes and a heavy right foot

I have 18.3 on car display over 5800 miles but i have kept a record since i got the car (geek, i know) and i make it 17.8 on my C63

Not the best of circumstances...but still, very impressive mpg.

I have no idea what the average mpg is on my C63, I think if I started to look I would scare myself and stop using it (ok doubtful...). I know as I only use it for short trips that it is only around 12-13mph as I am forever putting fuel in it.

12-13mph - you devil :devil::D.

Not long after I had the car I had a site visit in Bristol, I left with plenty of time in the morning and decided to see how economical it could be. I left it in C mode and never went above 70mph for the whole journey. This was from Southampton to Bristol.

I managed to hit a staggering 24.1mpg. But it was the most boring drive ever. On the way back I drove normally and managed to get 20.6 mpg.

Ever since I haven't tried it again. :)

Avg 19.1 since I got it in Dec 2012.
Good enough to photograph using DISTRONIC + at 70mph (ish) 24.6mpg

I managed a 'heady' 9.6mpg on a 20 mile country drive home the other day...

Back to the E63 and I had hoped the new car would be early to mid twenty's...

Just had a week in France with the SLK 55, cylinder deactivation does the business at 80 on the motorway. 1250 miles of mixed motoring giving 29 mpg. It also does the old BMW trick of giving reduced emissions to reduce road tax.

421 bhp, 29mpg and 195 g/km does it for me.......but I'd still quite like to replace my diesel CLS with a E63.

I note that your M157 redlines 1000rpm less than my M156.

6200rpm vs 7200rpm.

I have to work it to get the best from it (though it's great fun :thumb:).

I get 16-18mpg commuting in my 6.2 E63. Highly dependent on the traffic. Maybe 22 on a long run.

Its still well worth it though :thumb:

only been out in mine a few times in the month I have had it bar the first week when I had a good run - a gentle 160 mile drive on motorways with several slow stretches and I got 24.5 - but that looks the very top end - I am hovering around 15-17 in short mixed use and it seems to be dropping all the time - minimal use seems to necessitate getting some nice sounds from the engine, unfortunately, many journeys are so short it is still not warmed up before I stop and therefore not much go!!! Saturday tomorrow and she will get a cross-country trip to the golf course!
