I will start with the nice. Got a phone call from Andorra  ref a very nice 300CE-24 Coupe. Did the work as requested and quite unsolicited got this sent me via email. http://tmnv.tripod.com/mercedesw124.html

The nasty. Someone has been in touch with Mb at Milton Keynes ref my logo, sorry my ex logo. Everything now has to change, cards, invoices, letter heads advertising, the works. Hey ho not to worry, everything is sorted.

Its an opportunity - a refresh can be a good thing every now and then. I like your new banner. Looks good.

Has your website really been hacked or just down to fix the copyright issues?

I was very careful with my new website. No MB stars.

Hi Ian, in what way did your cards, invoices etc, infringe MB's precious sensibilities? Logo's, wording or both?

Sites are hacked all the time.

MB is on a mission and has been for a few years now, cracking down on anyone using any copyrighted materials.

I wouldnt assume either issue is personal.

Not heard of hacked sites for quite a while..

Ian's previous website (which was very definitely hacked) was Joomla based and despite everybody's best efforts keeping up security patches etc somebody got in and did a lot of damage including corrupting most of the installation files and deleting many others.

Like all popular systems, it's open to hacking if you know how and with many pages of forums describing new exploits it isn't too hard to find a way in if you really want to.

As Sp!ke says, sites get hacked all the while, this was one of many sites on the same server and none of the others were affected. Whether it was a direct attack on Ian or just an attack on a Joomla site is something we'll never know.

Anyway, hopefully everything is now getting back to some sort of normality.

Got to get your priorities right

Presumably MB have team of people devoted to checking for any "breach of use" of their logo etc. Probably more people than tasked with the recall campaign on their Blue Efficiency Injectors.:p

Indeed they are! We had to remove the star from our forum a few years ago after a warning from MB UK. Its bloody pathetic. Its not like we are making money from the use of the star. All any of us are doing is promoting how good the marque is(was) and how much we love it and it's cars.

They need to concentrate on making better reliable vehicles and not petty stuff like this!!!

other car companies are equally protective of their trademrks - a lot of 3D modellers like myself have been having this same problem for a few years now. I got cease and desist orders from Ford, VW, Peugeot, Renault, Nissan, Mercedes and BMW after they went through a couple of the on-line model banks

All of them (except Ford) were easily placated by a promise from me that I would remove my models from sale and ask any clients who had used my models to submit copies to the relevant manufacturer for approval.

The initial letter which many people receive demanding payment is 100% bull sh!t trying to scare little guys into paying up but their main purplse is to stop you using trademark material immediately

TBH I think the new logo is an improvement on the last 'new' logo.
