That's the popular use of the term, but it works in both directions. Creating benefit by misrepresentation of agent or relationship.

IIRC, it was a case of persuading the vendor to lower their valuation expectations before offering to buy the car, supposedly for their own personal collection. Said vehicle was then immediately flipped to a dealer who it subsequently turned out they also provided "consultancy" to.

And some "leaders" are a bit dictatorial with their responses, losing my interest in it too.

Given that they came from nowhere , relegated long standing members and club officials who had been there for decades , to the status of ‘newbies’ and had no interest in anyone else’s opinions , I dropped out after a short time .
