The reason my daily driver is a Volvo and not MB

Diesel Volvo estate with 250 bhp please read the thread, not at the top end of high performance but more than your average family hack.

Who mentioned competition boxes :dk:

What do you drive BTW :dk:

My fleet consists of my daily hack Volvo V70 250 bhp, MB CLK 278 bhp, Subaru Impreza WRC 300 bhp, BMW M3 CSL 400 bhp, Volvo C30 113 bhp, Fiat Punto 90 bhp

Ian how do you get to 250 bhp on the Volvo - if you have the Polestar upgrade its 230 bhp if you have any other upgrade your warranty is invalid.....
I too think volvo dealer is brilliant - I bought a new XC60 in July - the safety features are mind boggling. On full beam it doesnt automatically dip - it actually shields the on coming car and leaves the rest of the lights on full beam.
This is my third Volvo - and I rate them as honest cars. As for losing power on a car -- hmmm happened three times to me on the Mercedes I had...very scary - so much so I wouldn't have another V6 diesel.

It is quoted at 230bhp but Polestar figures are always very conservative mine came out at 248bhp, although I did have a real spot on technician who knew what he was doing ;)

Dealer just confirmed this latest issue will all be covered under warranty they estimating somewhere between £4k -£5k turbo has shattered its internals but they still don't know why but as the service manager said we've got lots of bits where they are not supposed to be  Going in this afternoon to look at it stripped down so I can see for myself.

As for service a 2 year old car no quibble on warranty, an equivalent replacement vehicle within an hour I still reckon that's good customer service

Mb enthusiast or someone that wanted to buy e class estate knowing its a superior car over the Volvo but either could not afford or was unwilling to pay the differents then try's to justify it by making inaccurate facts when knowing deep down he bourght the wrong car ..

And your opinion is based on extensive ownership of both or just liking one badge....?

Try not to waste too much time on him/her Ian, she/he is the resident troll, only appearing to stir.

Thanks, will put them on ignore then!

it seems there is one on every forum.....

Ah, f1 i understand how it all went wrong. If your Volvo had just the correctly quoted 230bhp and an auto box more than likely you wouldn't need to test the Volvo customer service! As it was you've been screwing it with the manual box and the extra 18bhp... :D

Warning troll alert....Warning troll alert....:ban:

I'm made my post today before I new about flanaia1 engine and while I have every sympathy regarding the situation and if knew before I would not have posted my comment out of respect . He the one who made unfounded sweeping comments about how bad mb dealerships / car are compare to Volvo I quote not the "sh*te you get from mb" ect , ect . Yet I very much doubt a mb engine would have need replaceing after a couple of years and I get called the troll for defending mb .

You are misquoting my point I have no problem with the quality of MB engineering and their engines but I DO have a BIG problem with their customer service and arrogant head up their backside attitude to them a customer is a nuisance don't believe me just use the search function on here or google it what you get back mirrors my own experiences. Of course there are the exceptions and good MB dealers out there just as there are bad Volvo dealers.

So to summarize from my personal experience MB Customer service is Sh*te, Volvo customer service is exceptional.

I have lots of experience on MB customer service.
MB Swindon - excellent
MB Breakdown service - very good.
MB York - arrogant barstewards.

Volvo - Chippenham Excellent
Volvo - Swindon Fairly good but not in Chippenham's league.

So its as much the dealer than the brand.

Good news and bad news

Well I went to see my Volvo yesterday afternoon, looks like the root cause was turbo bearing failure picked up by the boost pressure sensor as underboost and then it all really went pear shaped from there trashing many things in its wake, long story short car needs a new turbo and complete cylinder head.

Good news

The technicians and service manager were amazed at the cleanliness of the engine internals and asked what fuel I used, the car has always been run on Shell + Millers the head and valves were absolutely as clean as a whistle and the EGR vale has no deposits or gunge in it at all after 40,000 miles so for anyone who doubts the benefits of branded fuels and additives my car tells a different story.

Bad news

The car is sporting 2 dents one on the N/S rear door and another on the O/S rear quarter, these definitely were not there before, but fair play they admitted responsibility and will sort them before the car is returned.

Hopefully I should have it back for the weekend :thumb:

Volvo v mb , again..

Had a run in a few xc volvo's today as I'm keen to get something in place for new year, xc 90 over 2years pcp total comes in at approx £16.5 k for a NTI situation , has anyone seen an MB. Deal for ML. 250 with a reasonable spec ? Can't seem to see a 2 year option on line ..

Thanks.

f1, how do you know that it wasn't the Millers by itself that did the trick?

p.s. good to hear your getting it sorted
