The Search For The New Daily Driver

How about a 6 series BMW? Not many people seem to like them but they look a lot of car for the money? Would not buy new but to great buys? choice of tin top or vert, derv to M6

Also a 911 ?

Even maseratis (spelling?) lots of stuff for sensible money.

Masetati QP is a cracking car and for someone like DSLiverpool who enjoys large powerful cars its an extremely compelling choice. The 635d is a left filed choice but a 335d probably the better car....

BMW m3's (e90 V8) going cheap. So are 211 63s but the CLS55amg is a very special car, I'd be inclined to keep it and maybe treat it to a professional detail to keep the OP from tiring of it.

I fear that the Maser will be too revvy and short on twisty stuff for DS, given his comments on the M5.

2 years ago CLS55 ticked all the boxes, unusual to see and the ultimate version of an unusual car, was a no brainer for me.

To replicate this only the RS6 hits a bullseye (brow arches and engine delivering supercar BHP)

C63 comes close but is a little hard for me but its a semi tick,

M3 V8 looks too ordinary the sense of occasion is absent IMHO

Maser good call - nearest dealer is miles away and as i am at Strats with the DB9 about once a month its not a risk i want - I need a rock solid daily driver.

According to Audi the RS6 will lose £36k in 2 years and 20k miles  I wont (cant) take that hit so a £55k >1 year model in Mugello with cream will be sought over next --- months.

CLS was detailed last week (will take pics after a wash on sunday) it looks superb and with 2 new front wheels and a PDC sensor it will be near perfect, MOT till April and taxed with 8k till a service it will cost only petrol to drive

I recall seeing two RS6 in Top Marques a month or so ago, stickered at less than £60k.

I'll see if I still have it - will probably be covered in suntan lotion and sand as it was my holiday reading - OK, it will be all wrinkly assuming it's dried out from the rain!!

I think thay would be Avants (estates) are the previous model A6 and had 30% dealer incentive to shift them 6 months ago, there are loads of Avants about, not so many saloons BUT the Avant is a good indicator of scary depreciation ........

Definitely the new model - I don't recall whether avant or not now. Will go and find the magazine in a while.

E63 is short on wow factor (body not engine) for my childlike tastes, the E Coupe 500 sport is interesting and i "may" get away with 2 doors as they are so big but £52k ish for "not an AMG" is a lot of dosh.

I have honestly thought of every car except the Maserati and the RS6 on 20" wheels in Mugello at 9 months old and <£60k is the one but as of today that does not exist

There are 21 'new shape' RS6 listed on Autotrader, but just one at Stafford Audi is a saloon!! It seems you pay a premium for it too.

This may be of interest if going through the business: "Price: £62,850Gross VAT Qualifying"

Your a star sir - a star - that car and a sister car in Milton keynes were the two press launch cars loaned out to the mags (wince) Ive never bought a car thats done more miles sideways than forward  I tell you if it wasnt a press hack I would have had it for £58k - a nice salesman tipped me the wink :thumb:

Just found out that the avant models of the RS6 had a dealer write down from Audi of £30k  to shift them, this didnt apply to the saloon but £30k !!!! jeez

Hi DS,

Quite funny reading this. ;) You know what you want, you just havent realised it yet. There is nothing to touch the C63 for wow factor, power and just the awesomeness (I know crap word) of the engine in this car. Yes you can get it in an E or SL etc etc... but in the C63 it just blows you away.

A very rare car to see on the road too.....

You have to try one to be sure, even if I do have a vested interest...

Friends of mine have a C63 and it's completely ridiculous.

But absolutely 100% required.
