The sights and sounds of London

some fabulous cars (and noises!) - what a complete and utter waste of each and every one to be "driving" them around London streets rather than on real roads

Cheers Will, looked like good fun as always.

have you lived there, when i lived there i absolutely loved it... driving round could be fun if the conditions where right.... nothing better than a city... especially one as great as london.

Debatable, highly debatable.

Fabulous! :thumb:

I used to enjoy driving around London, but not any more. Too many cars, cameras etc! Where I live now has a lot of sweeping country roads, empty and fun! :)

It's only a video :) I wouldn't go extrapolating too much from it. I'd be very surprised if those cars also didn't also go on a few Sunday B-road runs and/or track days. For some people once in a while it's nice to take the car somewhere different and show-off a little. :)

Seemed perfectly safe to me, they chose places without pedestrians to nail the cars, not my idea of fun, but not harmful either. I hate London driving now, after living here for 25 years, too many really selfish, dangerous, unaware drivers.

The real saddoes are those who open up their cars on residential streets to get the engine sound, going way above the speed limit. I live on a rat run, and even I have come to believe that speed bumps have a role in shutting these loonies down. Shame cars like that have excellent crash safety, the gene pool could do with a Darwinian cull.

Fantastic clip, Will. Makes my 96 SL500 sound so bloody hairdresserish!

I really enjoy drives around London, especially when it quiet, the Christmas period has been lovely.

Would love to hear some of the 63's in the tunnels.

The area around Hans Road and Basil Street has become show-off's paradise - the noise must be hell for the people living on the side of the road that isn't monopolised by Harrods.

Not just residential streets, either. The SW3 end of King's Road has long been seen as a parade ground for exotica, but over the past ten years or so a trend has emerged for roaring between each successive zebra crossing for maximum effect, with only the abundance of lumbering buses to act as a traffic calming measure. Given the tendency for distracted shoppers to dart into the road with no notice, this is a recipe for disaster.

i like a heavy populated highly multi racial/national area, couple that with 100% less hatchbacks/vauxhauls/fords ect and i really loved living there.. london is special to me,

i know people say i like the country because of sweeping lanes and long straights in the middle of know where i get your point, but i save all that for the track.. i already have the police breathing down my neck, so all the teenage driving/speeding antics i take to brooklands or trackdays, its why i must get a old C280 to take to the track...

i have been all over the world and theres nothing quite like LA but london is a close second....just my opionions im not trying to start a beef with folks who live in small towns or anything.. :)
