With the wipers still not functioning on intermittent and slow wipe, and after fitting the new control box that the dealers had suggested mid-week, without success, I finally decided today that enough was enough with the damn thing, and set about looking at the whole wiper system top to bottom.

The wiper motor was getting power, but the gearbox didn't seem to be stepping down to the lower speed. By this time, I was getting really

Traced the wiring back and found another relay over by what appears to be the ECU/diagnostics over on the top right on the engine bay. Behold, a dodgy connection and a sticky relay. Split the relay open, checked it all over and voila!

Didn't really need £400-worth of new stalk and control box after all...I think the dealer may fund themselves giving me a refund on Monday...they might not like it, but

Well done DolphinTech.

In most areas of repairing there is now a trend towards parts fitting rather than diagnosis.

Mmm...admittedly it wasn't at all obvious as to what was causing the problem, but recent events have put me in a particularly ugly mood, and I was damned if I was going to let the car beat me.

Clearly this wasn't enough of a challenge for me, so I've gone to the effort of sourcing some really nasty Italian electrics to keep me busy!
