What about the Jews who arrived at a UK airport recently and were given a hard time by the customs officers ? Oddly enough that story has gone very quiet and the religious beliefs of the custom officers appears to be of no consequence but the religion of the visitor's is core to the report. ? 🤔

It's a great success for the pro-Palestinian PR machine, having rebranded the victims as perpetrators.

The two Israelis were going to give a talk to the Jewish community in the UK about the Hamas' atrocities of 7th Oct, but the immigration officers saw them as political agitators.

The immigration officers clearly bought into the false narrative that Israel is the aggressor and the Palestinians are the victims.

But to be even handed here (and in no way condoning the appaling events of October 7th) both sides have shown significant and prolonged aggression to each other over many years.

To effect any resolution needs both sides (of course there are multiple interested parties on both sides) to step away from reciprocal violence but that, unfortunately, is not something that the current state of affairs seems able or likely to support.

ISTR that it was border agency staff not customs.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually held for additional checks because they associated themselves with a terrorist incident. It's then easy for attitudes to get the better of a situation.

The situation in Gaza does seem to be stretching at the ability of some to maintain professional neutrality.

The same applies to bearded men in sandals at airports - everyone goes through the same security checks, we do not profile people based on their (assumed) religion. And no one in the UK is subject to additional security measures because 'they look Muslim'.

I think you'll find they profile .... the trick is to stop more people for additional searches than you actually need to mask it.

The disadvantage is it means more staff / slower lines for everybody.

The advantage - apart from political niceties - is that it throws an extra complication into the deterrent mix because perpetrators would otherwise simply adapt to work around profiling.

The trouble with these two entities is that they both try and force you to take a side and aren't prepared to accept the middle ground. If you're not for them then ultimately, in their opinion, you hate them. That's why it's very difficult to get any sort of resolution, it really is a very sad state of affairs.

This explains well why I am not optimistic:
