The UK Politics & Brexit Thread

A nice story tactfully handled.

What puzzles me though is why veiled Muslim ladies want to come and live in this country in the first place when the culture is deeply alien to their way of life. Wouldn't they be happier and much more comfortable living in a culture where all the ladies are veiled. If the answer is where they come from was unsafe, I'm sorry but that's not our problem, we are not responsible for all the worlds nasty regimes, the people that live there are.

Muslim women can by our cultural standards be seriously oppressed to the extent that it would be seen as illegal if men treated a white western women in that fashion. To what extent should we tolerate immigrant culture that amounts to breaking the law ? We've been too tolerant in the past for fear of being called racist and the result has been anything from gang sexual exploitation of young white girls to two tier policing of pro Palestinian protests.
As was mentioned here recently, it's all about indoctrination. When constantly told about it from birth, it becomes totally believable and absolutely the right thing. I fear that applying our laws without fear or favour will do little to change those beliefs, and instead stir up even greater animosity. I have no idea what the answer is, but it won't be easy.

I know the places you’re referring to very well.

There were cases a while ago about non Muslim women being verbally abused as they walked past the mosque wearing short skirts and vest tops.
Even though she was wearing a long dress with a high neckline, Tracey Dooley was verbally abused in the video that markjay posted earlier.

What part of religion does make sense....? :D
All of it, aside from a few hundred bits where God works in mysterious ways, for us to wonder about the perform.

Now, I've got be careful here. That rain is still falling, and I've only got a little ark. Put it this way, I'll never gat 2 kangaroos, 2 lamas, and 2 pandas in it. Noah flippin' chance

I’ve only just seen that this young lady became Thailand’s PM shortly after we were lumbered with our new guy.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra is the daughter of Thailand's former prime minister Thaksin, who I spent a few days with when he visited the UK in the early 1990s. He’s now a billionaire so can help her with her clothes bills.

It's not one or the other. Orthodox Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, and others all manage to live in Western countries while maintaining their own traditions. Muslim women who do not wish to be seen by men who are not relatives make their own adjustments.

Yes of course there are many different cultures and we mostly all get along together just fine but it's a question of what degree of difference before it becomes more difficult.

I'll give an example; I was brought up as a Catholic in North Manchester where there were may Jewish families. We had Jewish neighbors on both sides and across the road. Not a problem most of them were very nice people. Many years later when both parents had died the old family semi was put up for sale. Being within walking distance of a synagogue it was in fair demand and a young Jewish couple expressed an interest. Since leaving home the other half of the semi had been sold to an orthodox Jew who tried to interfere with the sale of the house to the young couple. He said in orthodox Jewish culture, he the immediate neighbour had the right of first refusal on the house and it was not to be sold by the estate agent to the young couple. Now for me that crossed the line, he had no right whatsoever to try and impose his culture on us to that degree. Well you can imagine our response. Orthodox jews are a tiny minority and generally don't try to impose their culture on anyone but when this one did he caused offence and didn't get his own way.

While I can accept that in Muslim culture women have to dress modestly, for me the full blown Burka also crosses the line as does Muslims abusing our young women either verbal or physically. I honestly believe that if their culture is so extreme that they can't comply with our laws then they would be happier some place else and so would I.

And it kicks-off again....:

Would be interesting to see Israel's response. Keeping in mind that Al Hudaydah in Yemen is significantly farther away from Israel than Teheran, and Israel has already bombed it twice and with relative ease. Netanyahu always wanted to 'fight it out' with Iran once and for all, looks like he just got his chance - Biden must be pulling his hair out in frustration.

He wasn't doing that. The Orthodox Jew's 'claim' sounded to me like a made-up story, so I just Googled it, and it's not a thing... he was just a dishonest person trying it on. Good on you for sending him packing :thumb:

I often hear that 'not all Muslims are suicide bombers, but all suicide bombers are Muslim' - and you could equally say that 'not all Asians are members of grooming gangs, but all members of grooming gangs are Asians'.

But the question to be asked is what precharge of the population are we talking about? What percentage of UK's 3m Muslim community are terrorists, or support terrorism? What percentage of the UK Asian community are members of Asian grooming gangs, or just turn a blind eye?

The Polish and Hungarian are proud that they have taken no Muslim immigrants and have zero terror attacks. They may be right, but by the same logic if we deport from the UK anyone living in council estates we will be dramatically reducing phone snatching and street mugging other petty crime, and in fact if we deport all men we will be significantly reducing rapes and sexual assault. Etc....

Wow!! It's like Nov 5th over Israel ...

Israel’s Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has already warned “This Attack will have Consequences”.

I suspect the Iranian theocratic regime may have just sealed their fate.

In the same vein I find it odd that so many black peoples have an issue with white people due to the slave trade. They appear to think that white people are to blame for it.

I had nothing to do with it.

Stramer did not once state when he expected all asylum seekers out of hotels. However, the rants, and the bluster all pointed to a solution within a few months to save the "billions" it cost us he ranted very loudly against the Conservatives. Today, they let slip that they don't see this happening for at least three years.

After 14 years of any government, most people would be bored or worse. However, this leader banged on about the Tories' wrong-doings
is a bigger piece of rubbish than them.

I still can't get over the 30k of clothing for him over a couple of years.

There's a message there for the anti-American amongst us: Yes, the US isn't perfect, but be careful what you wish for, because there's no vacuum in geopolitics and any areas in the sphere of influence given up by the US will be occupied by someone else - and none of the candidates are particularly appealing.
