The two to three weekly ritual has repeated today.

Ms Sturgeon makes some allusions to border controls.

The police are then asked about checks and make a vague statements that infer they're not going to do much.

She really needs to be called out on this by the Scottish media - a bit of actual mockery and derision on the issue might do her some actual good. If Mr Johnson tried to do something similar the media would have a field day with him - so why does Ms Sturgeon get such an easy ride?

By any means possible....
Consider for a moment if she was leading an independent Scotland within the EU - how would she deal with EU rules and dictats?

Prejudice and hypocrisy are not a healthy mix.

Not sure who that’s aimed at...?

If Ms Sturgeon had her way and Scotland was in the EU would she be making such a fuss about closing links with EU neighbours compared with her focus on the internal UK borders?

Complete madness to have border controls within the UK.

the is an attempt to make Scotland "independent" by stealth
At some point the UK government is going to have to put a stop to the SNP's continual attempts to split the UK. Even if that means suspending the Scottish Parliament.

There seems to be a growing level of support for closing Holyrood down and using the vast sums of money for improving the daily lives of all Scots, rather than enhancing the bank accounts of those who work at what Billy Connolly calls the “pretendy parliament”

No I don’t think she would. Though I think the EU would be more than happy to utilise the Scotland-England border, as a one-way valve for EU (and Scottish) products flowing uninhibited into (what remains of) the UK, whilst restricting UK products ‘flowing’ the other way.

I read last week a comment by a senior ex SNP minister that the SNP are allegedly keeping back money, that is provided by the UK and meant to be spent on Scotland, for their independence campaign. If that's true the SNP needs to be challenged in the courts and forced to hand the money back or spend it as intended.

It should never have been called Parliament in the first place.

The media in Scotland seems to be - with the odd exception - more than willing to support the "SNP Good, Westminster Bad" prejudices of the most fervent Nationalists, while the media south of the border - again with the odd exception - exhibits a mixture of ignorance and indifference towards Scottish Politics. The exception to that seems to be that if Sturgeon disagrees with Westminster then that plays to the UK media's general desire to undermine the UK government at every opportunity.

My view - from a distance - is that there's something rotten about the SNP. It is elite-driven and personality led, routinely plays fast and loose with facts, undertakes malicious prosecutions against individuals resulting in eye-watering compensation payouts from the public purse (the Rangers administrators case), holds a sham "inquiry" into potentially improper/illegal actions by Sturgeon and others with a hobbled inquiry committee, and engages in re-writing history to suit its separatist narrative. The current and previous First Ministers are engaged in open warfare, they have fired the person who was arguably their most effective Westminster politician (Cherry) because she is a threat to Sturgeon, presided over a collapse in education standards and a massive rise in drug deaths, wasted huge sums of public funds on a ferry, and compromised the independence of the judiciary by making its head a political figure. Other than that, they're all good.

Where does the Boris 'Bore' tunnel joining Scotland to Northern Ireland fit in all this ? Genuine question , all seems a bit bonkers to me.

Would you be using the term 'bonkers' if china, or Japan, or Norway were proposing something equivalent?
