Do you think it has changed your outlook as a driver with regards to Road Safety ?

I did a Glasgow - Pitlochry - Glasgow trip today and I think it has changed the way I look at things.

You ?

I voted no, not because the presentation was bad, quite the opposite, but because I have seen many of the scenes Kinnie couldn't show us, so I'm always consious of what can happen.
I would however, like my two daughters to see that presentation as they are new drivers and I think it would benefit them greatly. Should be a compulsary part of learning to drive.

it has certainly made me think a bit more about how severe these things can be. i like to think i'm a pretty careful driver anyway so it probably hasnt changed the way i'm driving. i'd heard/seen similar info before but it was good hearing it direct from a cop though, and i think he was very honest about his own opinions throughout. to sum up, i think its probably made me more aware, atleast whilst its fresh in my mind.

i think all drivers should attend similar presentations. maybe should be put on at the end of the therory tests or something.

The fact that I would say it did not change my attitude in no way reflects negatively on Kinny's presentation. Little content was new to me - the police and other agencies have been banging on about these issues for years.

But hearing it straight from a bona fide traffic cop's lips was quite sobering. Kinny's candid views (and language) left me in no doubt about the thankless job they have and the uphill struggle to educate others.

To say I learned nothing new would be grossly unfair. The fact that I know all about and try to practice observation and anticipation, certainly doesn't make me a great driver - and I hope I will not kill myself as a result of the crass stupidity that Kinny sees every day. I also thought it better to keep very quiet about the merry japes I got up to 40 odd years ago both behind the wheel and as a passenger. Nowadays, I'd have been dead long since - I was lucky and learned my lesson.

But the presentation and our lively discussion certainly gave plenty of food for thought and I surely got a lot from it.

...even if I did think some of his statistics were mince...:D

Its made me more aware of the implications of what can go wrong in an accident. Having been in one and got off lightly (a double roll over as my pal flipped his BM) its made me appreciate that I was very lucky as there are many who haven't been.

As the above its not changed my view but is a very sobering reminder and refresher I'm going to see if I can tee something like that up for my daughter and boyfriend before they start driving next year.
