The Weistec (and more!) Conversion Progress - SL55 AMG

I'm well lost in the wiring for everything Chris! Ice tank, Brabus side skirts, lowering module, roof module, water meth etc etc!

My cars interior is in loads of bits! Getting there tho :D

Just a couple of questions. What year is your SL? Do you have any pics of the re-trimmed steering wheel? Who did you use for the wheel and for the CF trim? Did it have buttons or paddles originally?

Keep the pictures coming!!

John, where did you get the 220mph speedo from (Brabus?) and who calibrated it?

Pointless having a speedo that reads 220 the speed limit is 70mph which should be adhered too as long as the weather permits.
This excessive speeding gives genuine AMG owners a bad name :D

Anyway 220 might be a bit low :bannana::bannana:

2003 model mate. Pics to follow of the steering wheel. Jack at Royal Steering Wheels and custom retrim and new steering wheel with paddles came to £330 from memory. Email him nice chap and can send you loads of pics.

I had buttons originally now plastic paddles. You can get steering wheels with metal paddles off eBay from a company for about £500.

CF trim is Brabus mate. More pics to follow. I did wrap a centre console but it was poor quality in comparison.

It's from a SL65 AMG mate and yet to fit and calibrate. Will hopefully be coding it as SL65 AMG cluster, otherwise will be adapting it somehow.

Can't get past the 214 mark! :(

I will be interested in how you manage this as looking for the same thing myself.

Will do Chris :)

This as exciting as progress pics get at the moment :(

Still going the car has failed SAM units in the rear and all the fuse boxes have been apart to check the prefuses. Crazy where some are located.

Anyway new one ordered from Benz, £342 lighter plus £600 for the power distribution module.

ARGH!

Not Long john though and a 800 bhp monster will be unleashed......

Love the work gone into the mechanical side of things but I have to say it looked a lot better with the amg bits rather then Brabus.

I can understand why you'd change it up though. :)

Brabus bits look awesome in the flesh though I don't like my wheels.

Better high res pics to come soon :)

Slow but good progress!

1) Carbon Brabus Interior is now fitted
2) Ice Tank is now wired in to the existing intercooler pump system
3) Upgraded rear lights done
4) Brabus sideskirts wired in
5) Rebuilt half the car after having all the panels out.

Wheels are fitted!

And I also brought some 20" wheels as well... Which I am getting custom painted...

Pics to follow. Roof module to wire in and finish lowering module.

Anyone fitting a Weistec charger, change the IAT sensor before you fit it. What a **** once done!

Tax on Monday and off to the Isle of Man for some testing.

Any SL owners may notice during the respray I deleted the rear aerial. Looks much better!

Boot finally back together wiring to tidy up slightly. Ice tank fits nicely in the hidden trunk area. Wife said where will be put the luggage on a long trip, so brought the SL luggage from Mercedes :D

Carbon console fitted. Just to screw it all back together and fit side panels.

Leather retrim is booked and going for black nappa smooth leather, grey double stitching with perforation. New heated seat elements too. Genuine AMG badges arrived yesterday to replace the ones in the seats.

Also fitted a Bluetooth receiver into the Aux in port today for wireless music streaming.

Very close to MOT day tomorrow. Steering wheel to fit yet, as well as lowering module from Renntech and roof module for remote opening etc.

Wiring for Brabus illuminated side sills done as well as the Brabus LEDs in the sideskirts. Look pimp.

Good progress today. The car is outside but the wheel bolts I got are too long. ARGH! So back into the workshop for now.
The wheels on it are for sale, too bling I think. Going for 20" Brabus wheels with polished lip, black spokes and silver faces. Woohoo!

Bringing back a year old thread but did you ever get the SL65 dash sorted? Does anybody know if it is a direct swap for the 600 dash
