C180 SE coupe. Just after a 30 mile run and the engine temp was showing a constant 40 degrees. Is this a thermostat issue ? And will this have an effect on the heating and air con in the car as this is performing poorly.

Thanks

Yes, it's a thermostat issue. It will most definitely have a detrimental effect on the heater and also on fuel consumption.

Changing it is an easy DIY job.

That's great , thank you. I have virtually no control over the heat in the car.

Running temperature should be around 85c, so it appears your thermostat needs replacing. You will see a big difference in the effect that has on your heating.
I don't think your AC relies on the thermostat and if not cooling properly is more than likely in need of a recharge.

Thank you. That's helpful.

That's more like it!

I'll bet the heater is somewhat better now as well.

It's way better although I think the control may be bust as I can't turn the temp down any or regulate where the heat goes , ie front back etc

Genuine MB ones are only slightly more expensive than ECP

A Pair of genuine Jaguar EGR valves are cheaper than ECP can supply after my trade discount and vat !!!!
