Thinking of getting metal detectors fro the grandsons for Christmas and advice

Metal detectors!!! No idea whats what, So much choice.
Please help. Need a couple for the grandsons 6 and 9 years old going on 20.

I may not be much help.

Bought my daughter one and was advised to get one that can discard nails, junk etc. That immediately raised the price to around the £200+ mark. That included headphones and a couple of trowels. Within a week we found our neighbours wedding ring, lost in the snow.

You could watch The Detectorists on iPlayer and listen out for what ones they use.
