Thinking of leaving the fold...

Are you still looking to change AZAMAN?

A lot of people at our company have all "opted out" of the company car scheme and our car park is like a car show some times...one guy bought the Type R 4 months ago and already hates it..fat too harsh and the engine sits at about 6300 at motorway speeds, you can hardly hear inside the cabin at 80mph ( i know its above the legal limit ) just being honest.
Another friend has the focus ST and it really is awesome -except fuel consumption, Golf GTi is also a car i can hardly fault and if your after a drivers car....(sorry folks) E46 BMW 330 coupe is all the car you would ever need...sounds great too.

The big V8 mercs are awesome but reckon you need to up your budget for nice SL 500....:D

So I finally did it today, traded in the C coupe for a BMW 530d M Sport!! The car is a 2006 with all the options (almost), 19" wheels, xenons, sat nav etc etc and is in close to mint condition.

On my way out now, will post a pic later.

Good for you, did you get a decent deal? I had an E60 530i SE a few years back, very good cars.

£15K should get you a nice 6 cylinder CLK?? New Mercedes-Benz CLK Coupé Car Review - Parker's You will have to get used to revving the nuts of the civic type R to get its performance-so make sure you can live with that.[/QJ

Yes I agree CLK is a much better option than the C Coupe or CLC (refer to J Clarkson Esq)

I think that although MB have their faults, they have something above other makes. I have thought about others (BMW,Jag) but keep coming back to MB.

Good luck!

Sounds like a nice purchase azaman....:thumb:

I went to see same as above last week...le mans blue with silver nappa leather and piano black trim....just waiting to see if the guy comes back with a good deal.........:D

We settled on £20k for the BMW. I paid £11.5k + my car in p/x so overall I'm happy. Nothing else out there at price and they gave me good money for my car.

G-Force, my car is the darker silver colour with grey leather. Only downer is it has the alu cube interior, would have preferred a wood finish.

Traitors the pair of yous :ban:

They are nice cars the E60s but IMHO the 211 is the nicer looking and appointed car and also good to drive as well.

If you have not driven a civic then you need to it was one of the cars on my daughters list last year she hated it complained most about the transmission and the cheapo feeling, she ended up with the new Golf.

Calm down mate, i was only looking....would def buy if the roads weren't pot-holed to death.......
Very firm ride compared to sofa like merc...:ban:

Cheers matey,
If its not radiators mixing with ATF fluid....then it's swirl flaps causing chaos.....always something . lol

I've put the BMW on hold as i dont think the car is worth £23k The guy didnt offer me enough for my car and as it was a manual 3l i dont think it will hold its value as well as an auto would.

A late 211 doesnt do this, you're car shouldnt have the dreaded valeo.

£23k is awful steep, it has to pretty new. Would a 330d be an option or even an Audi. Barryh went out and defected big style;)

Thanks Steve,
Im hearing massive engine failures from Audi's 3.0 Deisel lump and the new shape 3 series is too plain inside (even if you get one with i-drive, my E class is a nicer place to be!!!!!)
I have just spent a small fortune on my car recently...so i will hang fire for a couple more months........

Quite like these V6 Audis ta for the tip off. I firmly believe we do have it quite good compared to some other cars.

XF? Nice motor for you but dont know about value retention. There is the option of "another" 211 with the V6 and 7spd. I drove the C class with this combo and it was a fun wee car.

I have thought about another Merc on many occassions....my only gripe......every other car in the last 10 years or so has had sports seats...and the Merc (although very comfy) has no support from the seats..in my opinion. I cant justify an AMG because i do too many miles and the fuel bill would be more shocking than what it already is..

Sport models of the 211 have nicely bolstered seats :D
