I am thinking of selling my immaculate 2012 SLK with 25500 miles on the clock. WBAC offer is £17000, been offered a much higher price by Parkway Specialist Cars , anyone dealt with them before? Would be nice to know if anyone has sold to them before I push the button , they look and sound OK as far as I can tell .

Cant answer your question per se - but dealers seem to be selling similar age\mileage cars to yours for around £22-24k... So I would be hoping to get around £19 - 20k... However why do you really care about the reputation of who you sell it to - provided the cash is in your bank account before you hand the keys over ;-)

So long as they pay you a price you are happy with, does it matter what they are like?

Just wanted to check as far as I can that I am likely to get my cash with any issues. The offer is a good one , this was more a belt and braces check , will obviously make sure I am 100 % happy with the collection and payment process . Oh and it might be we have a forum member who wants it!:)

They can transfer the funds immediately so you can confirm receipt before you walk away....assuming you have mobile banking on your phone...

Thanks Greenmanslk, I have banking on my phone and am awaiting an email from them confirming how they handle the money transfer . They will collect from my home so will save me the cost of driving the car for 4.5 hours and then travelling home by train!

I viewed an E63 at their premises in Mansfield (if that’s the same one). Small forecourt with lots of cars crammed in and a workshop at the back. Nice old showroom with some decent cars in. I found the owner to be friendly and approachable. I told him what I had come to look at and he gave me the keys and left me to it, no pressure sales. Obviously it was impossible to drive the car away because it was boxed in but nevertheless he felt relaxed about giving me the keys.
I appreciate I didn’t sell anything to him but overall my experience was a pleasant one (for a car dealer). I didn’t buy the car I went to look at but that was due to personal reasons and no fault of the garage.
Parking at the front was a pain due to road restrictions though 😊

Hope it all goes smoothly for you. What has made you decide to part with it after a relatively short time of ownership? SL 63 purchase? ;)

Unfortunately have just found myself buying a house that is well over budget and in a location without the good country roads nearby. Decided that as I am only doing 3-4 K miles per year and there are rather more potholes ( and car thieves ) in the new location I would prefer to sell while it was not too old . Will wait until settled in the new location and decide what budget I have for my next car. Hopefully another Mercedes , not new and definitely petrol.

Have just emailed an acceptance of their offer :(

Yes Mr B, I have seen that when looking on line for SLK 55 's for sale they have usually had a nice low mileage one for sale, and on occasion they advertise that very low mileage / pristine examples are wanted. Went on their website and sent an enquiry to get a valuation. Got a phone call within 30 minutes, discussed colour , interior , factory extra's fitted , service history etc. with their buyer, he made me an offer which was more than expected and reached the level that persuaded me to sell , thought about it for a few hours then did the deal.

Thanks for that. That would be my preferred method of selling rather than having folk come to the house and all that entails.

Car being collected tomorrow :(

I did very similar when selling my immaculate/low mileage E63 wagon last year.

Found a very similar car that I later discovered had sold via a specialist dealer of nice prestige/sports cars and contacted them out of interest to see how the sale went etc. The proprietor sounded very interested in my own car and I ended up selling to them directly.

Sale went smoothly, bank transfer of funds and no hassle with advertising/multiple viewings etc.

Got several thousand ££££s more than any of the usual online places, WBAC etc who just work of algorithms etc, which may be okay for average examples of mainstream cars but experience pays dividends and buyers and sellers of immaculate/low mileage examples of specialist cars know what they want, hence they offered more than ‘book’ price and also sold it accordingly to someone who knew what they were buying (they also part exchanged an older E class AMG wagon)

Shame it had to go but I found a great replacement, I’m sure you’ll miss your SLK55 but at least you get the excitement of finding a replacement

When you get to my age excitement is hard to come by! Am looking with my sensible head on currently. Think a dog friendly C class estate looking favourite, but with a decent engine, trying to resist the temptation to look at anything too over budget. Doubt I'll find a V6 petrol but in no rush although it might need to be a diesel in the end. Luckily my wife has vetoed either an A class or B class standard model but likes the ' jacked up ones ' GLA ? Not taken a look but might do a little research to occupy my time . Having been out and washed all the moss off the RAV4 and given it a nice coat of high gloss wax., just finished and its started raining :wallbash:

I do like the look of the new GLA, but it's not been out long enough for used prices to be low enough! The GLC Coupe is also beautiful
