Thinking of selling the beast

After selling my 507 and getting the new C63S, which I have subsequently sold, I am now looking at the w204 C63 again, point being they are great all round cars... Ideally I'd like another 507 but they are around 43k+ and I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay that as I sold mine for 42k.

Saying all that I still might buy something else :)

I think you should be able to get a 507 by the end of the year for 38- 40k after some hard negotiations

How comes you sold it mate? Didn't have it for long !

I sold my 27,000 mile 2013 saloon to the trade for £29500 a few weeks ago. Coupe's do go for slighlty more so I'd agree around £33,000 for a private sale. You will be sorely disappointed with a Vantage after owning the C63, they look and sound great but are definitely fur coat and no knickers.

I had a 2012 Vantage Cab, honestly, the worst driving car Ive ever had, gear change was abysmal, backed it after a week

Not an Aston Fan, they look lovely but that's where it ends for me. My brother went to test drive a DB9 while he had his E60 M5 he said it was very disappointing.

You already own a superior car, you could well regret it, as has been said, hire one and get it out of your system.

If you want an Aston my only advice would be to buy the latest one you can afford and with a factory warranty or with a history from somewhere like McGurk or Banfird Rose.

You didn't say which one and they are different in character dependent on whether you go for a Vantage, DB9 or Vanquish.

Surprised to hear that people think they drive badly. I've enjoyed my manual 2015 Vantage SP10 immensely,it's a genuinely rewarding and very analogue experience.

As for a C63 being "superior" I have no idea what that even means.

I loved my C63 but it was completely different to my Aston.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm going to do an extended test drive a vantage next weekend and hopefully that will give me a better idea. I'm looking at a newish manual, <2 years old ideally.

Don't bother with the Aston. It's the opposite of the C63.

All mouth and no trousers!

Personally if you really want to change I would rather go for the Jag F-Type find the Astons boring.

Just keep in mind that the C63 is a £30k small executive car with a whopping great big lump shoehorned in and an Aston Martin is a "bespoke" sports car and as such will have a level of exclusivity a C-Class won't. Very different cars all together.

And I bet most that are slagging them off have either never owned (or even driven) one for a period of time.

£37 is too steep. £33 is I reckon

Uhhh hummm £110k Thank you sir ;0)

Ah yes but yours is a very special one, as good as hand built and not a chav chariot as so many of the more normal ones have become :)

.

How exactly would you define the opposing nature of these two cars ?

Here's a few things to consider, some similarities and some differences about the cars and the ownership experience.

My C63 could make more than one passenger smile at once

My Aston can get round a track or up and down a mountain pass much quicker.

My C63 had approx 450 bhp and got to 60 in about 4 and a half seconds

My Aston has approx 450bho and gets to 60 in about four and half seconds

My Aston makes a lovely V8 noise and revs for fun

My C63 made a lovely noise and revved for fun

My C63 had average build quality and rattled a bit

My Aston had average build quality and rattled a bit

My Mercedes dealer never bothered to fix the problems

My Aston dealer sent a truck, took the car away and offered me a choice of loan cars

My Aston dealer regularly invites me to things and knows who I am.

My Mercedes dealer has changes sales people on a seemingly monthly basis and can't remember my name.

My Aston dealer offered me what I paid for the car after a year.

My Mercedes dealer told me the GTS I bought was worth £40k less than invoice after 6 months despite claiming "demand was huge and people will be paying a premium to get these cars".

My 63 could be mistaken for a run of the mill family wagon sometimes - occasionally I thought this was a good thing.

My Aston can't.

My C63 attracted a lot of interest from other motorists

My Aston attracts a lot of interest from other motorists

These are not always the same type of motorists ;) People who say "innit" and "bruv" seemed to prefer the C63.

Just a few thoughts, mostly trivial but as SPX says people do tend to say daft things on the inter web often without any frame of reference. Still if we all liked the same things the world would be very dull :)
