I'm surprised it didn't kill him, trees don't take prisoners.

I've taken a few trees down piece meal and while nothing like that has happened, I had a near miss once when a branch that was a small fraction of that size hit the ladder on it's way down and did some damage. I'm acutely conscious that even relatively small bits of a tree weigh a lot.

Very bad, I worked with trees and things when i was a lad and this looks real bad.

We have a large oak tree that needs the occasional haircut, and whenever somthing that size (or smaller) needs cutting down (by professional tree surgeons) they rope it up first, that video shows why!

Many many years ago I cut a tree down. I tied a bit of rope to the top and had the wife the other end taking the strain as it were. I said to her if the tree comes your way, leg it sharpish. She still says to this day, least ive never tried to kill you with a falling tree
