New CLS 450 Prem Plus ... yey !!!

My E500 has been at the dealer for the last couple of weeks. They are doing a cam-chain tensioner fix under warranty to eradicate a slight noise on cold start-up.

It was due to come back too me yesterday but it's not ready as they need to send to Germany for more parts, so they loaned me this until it's fixed ...

I don't mind! Told them no rush to get mine back to me.

I have 500 mile weekend coming up which I'm now rather looking forward to!

Very nice, I got a lousy A180 when my SL went in for service, cost £12 for the privilege of driving around in a plastic interior on a par with a Vauxhall Corsa, yuk!

The wife drove it and said "something was wrong with the engine it has no acceleration, have I touched something I shouldn't have?"

I replied yes, my wallet. Seems she thinks all cars have a 4.7l twin turbo [emoji849]

when I took my year old c63 in for its annual service with loan car swap, they offered me a smart fortwo as the loan car. I got a glc350d for my troubles which was a lovely car. not sure what all the crabbing complaints were to be honest. it did have some fearsome turbo lag though (compared to the 63) but I soon got used to its stature and it was a lovely thing to drive

Am I the only one who prefers the W218 CLS to the newest one?

Nope! I think it an awful looking car personally, the 219 for me is still the best of them all, followed by the 218. The latest incarceration regardless of how the mechanical side of things fair up, is definitely disappointing for me.

It’s a nice touch, especially if your car has been off the road for while.

Personally I don’t mind what the courtesy car is, as long as it keeps me mobile. I usually don’t even bother, and hang around at the dealership until the car’s ready. Vive la difference!

Nope it’s not the prettiest looking thing, especially that side profile towards the rear. I think Mercedes are going backwards rather than forwards with its design of new cars...

6 hours hanging around the dealership would drive me potty!

I guess I have been spoilt over the years, Jag would try to upsell when I had the XF by giving me an XJ, Lexus gave me their 4x4 hybrid....

I like this car….. I’m hoping I get to keep out for a while!

It doesn’t feel fast until you prod it or select sport+

I’ve not driven a 4Matic for an extended period before, it’s rather good - it feels very planted on the road.

Averaged 35 mpg over the weekend - four up on a two 250 mile journeys 30 % motorway, 70% rural A roads. I reckon it would do 40mpg on a steady 70 mph cruise.

It's got me thinking whether to sell both the E500 & E220d and go for an E43 Estate as a do-it all car…… Maybe the 3 litre petrol engine is the sweet spot. It's not got the shove or the soundtrack of the V8 but it's every bit as quick.

Feels just like an E Class inside which is a bit disappointing as my 2014 CLS SB felt like a step up from the 2014 E Class. Externally - it’s growing on me, but I don’t think its as dramatic looking as the previous CLS’s.

It's quite impressive looking on the drive because it's big - the postman liked it.

I also don't care what I get. As long as I can fit in it, drive it comfortably for the distance required!

I got a 68 plate A180d recently as a courtesy car and was rather impressed with it.

OK so you can tell it is an A Class but even so - a big improvement over the previous model from what I remember.

amazing fuel economy for such a big and heavy car.

new in line six with EQ Boost sounds a great engine. 53 engine will be another step on

Well ..... I took the CLS back to the dealer as I didn't need a car for a week or so. I thought the E500 would be ready by now but it's still waiting on parts.

Yesterday I needed a car so the dealer sorted me out with a brand new, ( 50 miles on the clock ) GLS350 monster truck.

It's huge but really easy to drive and place on the road. After 250 miles at an average of 29.1mpg I'm quite liking it. The tech is a bit dated though.

It'll do for now!

The interior does look a bit dated compared to the latest GLE but I do like the look of it, absolutely massive though!
