C Class C220 CDI (W204)
Hi there. New member and I've recently bought a W204 C220 CDI AMG sport.

My first ever diesel having always been a hot hatch man. Getting older and requiring something more sensible, along with the need for a better MPG and 4 doors to start a family lead me to this purchase.

I felt the car was a bit too "company car" looking, so I've made several changes. These will not be to everyone's taste but I thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I have;

Removed the blue efficiency badge as felt it was horrible.
Removed the C220 and CDI badges as I prefer a smooth tailgate.
Removed the chrome strip that ran along the bottom of the doors.
Pained the chrome window sills gloss black.
Tinted the windows. A subtle tint. 35% rear and 70% front to add balance.
Changed the front grill to the coupe one as I much preferred it.
Felt the wheels were too bland, had them painted "shadow chrome"

Here is some before and after pics of the changes and then some pics of the car now.

Cheers guys.

Besides the blacking out of the side of the car, I like what you've done; I normally debadge all of my cars, diesels and AMG's, I too prefer the clean lines.

Looks smashing mate, might have to get rid of the Blue Efficiency badges off mine, How did you get them off?

Subtle changes are always the best!
I think it looks good

Heat gun and dental floss to loosen it. Then my fingers to pry it off completely.

Was so easy. Adhesive came off easily too and quick polish has left effectively no marks.

I love what you've done, I've wanted to debadge mine just the same and was wondering how I could do it :thumb: Nice one

Hesitant to put a heat gun near my paint though knowing my luck I'd make a right pigs ear of it, how long would you heat the area of each badge for etc?

Grille looks nice too

Tastefully done .

Heat gun has 4 levels. I used number 2.

About 15 seconds, then used dental floss.

Repeated the above process until it was obvious my fingers could remove it.

Nice, I'm going to try that. Dying to take the B/eff badges off my wings

My VW dealer removed some badges for me a few years back using a heat gun, ended up with two cracked rear lights.

Best way I've found is to use some braid fishing line, very thin & very strong. Just pull it behind the badge and it will slice through the adhesive and clean any leftover with tar remover. NOTE: wrap the ends of the line around some pencils before trying to pull the line otherwise there'll be blood everywhere, braided fishing line will slice through skin as easily as badge adhesive.
