Ticking/Clicking noise from Dash Board on my C220 CDI 2001

I have just recently bought a 2001 Mercedes Benz CDI C220 but whenever I start the car there is an awful ticking noise which goes on for about a minute. Its driving me MAD! Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is an how to resolve it??? Thanks.

Welcome aboard.
It'll be the control rods for the ventilation flaps. One or more has become detached. There are a few threads on here about it, now's as good a time as any to explore the forum 'search' facility.

Not easy to rectify from reading the threads about this problems. When you say 'just' bought it, did you get any warranty with it or if you bought it from a dealer can you get them to fix it?

It can be a big job to sort. Firstly it needs to go on a Star to check which heater flap motors are causing the problem. Its about 9 hours work in labour.

Sounds like you have a mouse playing the drums in your dash... As people have said... It's one of the 10 ( I think ) stepper motors... I had this done at huge expense on my 55 and on the day I sold it another one went!!
Best of luck with this, I hope for your sake it's one of the motors that doesn't need the whole dash out..
