I joined the MB clan just over a year ago purchasing my C250CDi from Lookers at Ashford - bit of a trek from East Sussex but they had the car that I liked:
In addition to the fairly rare colour (indigolight blue) the spec was (I thought!) almost exactly what I would have ordered:
- AMG line
- Auto/tiptronic (older 5 speed)
- Panoramic sunroof
- Light grey Artico "Leather" trim with burr walnut
At 4 years old (on a 10 plate) the car had covered 24,000 miles, and at a final price of £15500 seemed fair value.
I have added 8000 miles during which the car has averaged 46 mpg with a best of 57.7 coming back from Scotland last year. I am just about to do an oil change and top up the adblu (and check the function of the boot light, expiry date of the first aid kit and all those other critical things that dealers do that somehow adds up to £500!)
I will be doing all regular maintenance myself, with an indy for anything that needs specialist equipment/knowledge. My car experience includes building two kit cars (Marlin and Robin Hood) and rebuilding from a bare shell a classic Mini including full engine and gearbox build.
Other cars in my fleet are:
- 2014 MX5
- 59 plate Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi estate (our SUV to do tip runs and leave in Tescos so people can bang their doors onto it!)
- 09 plate 207 CC 1.6HDi - wife's car
- '96 Polo with 33,000 miles daughters first car
- Punto oldest daughter's car
I am keen on detailing the cars and am a long standing member on detailing world, and imported a Porta cable from the states long before such polishers were available here.
I am a life long keen radio control modeller, currently sailing International one metre yachts (I also have a scalextric set and model railway in the loft!!!)
Enough for an intro I think!!!!
