HI Everyone this is my first post would really appreciate any advise - own a Vito 109 battery fault light suddenly came on today whilst driving ? then 5 min down the road after parking up, get this - out side its MOT retest centre? for its retest. Whilst stationary ticking over sudden arratic rough engine noise resulting in me turning off ignition. A Halford mechanic then asked me to start vehicle it started on 2nd attempt running rough he guessed possible timing chain issue or oil pressure module failure? Have left the vehicle there parked up over night. Being an mechanical engineer (not motor mechanic). Having previously changed all front/rear shocks, springs, parking shoes myself...Can I carry out a fault diognosis to find fault. Where do I begin, can I expose chain & oil presume module, stationary where it is? Was going to try & drive it home bound but decided to not take the risk in the hope major damage isn't yet done? - look at towing some where tomorrow any advise please...

Take it that it's diesel. ? Could be lots of things like injector gone down or air leak somewhere. I'd be surprised if it's anything to do with the chain with out prior warning like a rattle on startup etc. I am sure some experts will be along shortly.

Sorry but I have to ask .............................

How is the symptoms and solution in any way related?
