Remember doing a similar thing to a MK1 mini in the 80's but kept with a MK3 Cooper S Grill as a Radford tribute for a stockbroker guy. The headlight buckets were quiet an easy thing to weld in and metal finish! No extra metal was needed to be let in and I guess that's why it was a popular mod BITD. Not sure it's as successful with a Merc grill mind!
