is it possible to convert a non tiptronic gearbox to a tiptronic one.
if it is possible what parts would i need and the cost.
car is 1999 e430 preface lift model

Hi,
I looked at doing this on my C43, and the conclusion i came to was that to do the job the gearbox and T/C would have to be replaced.
You would also need a new gear selector unit, a different set of clocks, some additional wiring, and possibly a new TCU.
All these parts would be reasonably easy to source second hand from a breakers in the case of your car, but in the case of my 43 it proved impossible because of the lack of factory built tip optioned 43's available for parts.
