I wonder how many folk de-badge. This presents a cleaner, less cluttered look, easier to clean too, and adds a little mystique..... or just leave it stock ?

I removed the boot badges to have the boot blown over. In the four months since I have not got round to fitting the new badges back on.

I'm still undecided what to do as sometimes I like the look and others miss the badges.

I have in the past always debadged my cars. Sorry I'm not much help but it's very much personal taste which from experience can change often.

The 1st thing I did was check my car when I saw this, I didn't even realise my ml was de-badged. I think it looks better on most cars to be honest. Unless you have something to shout about like a 63 some where.

The first thigh I did to my new (to me) car was to remove the CLK280 badges.

Depends how embarrassed you are.

:P

If the badge indicated a small engine then yes de-badge.
If I drove a Lada again yes.
If I drove a Bentley, no.

Loads of previous threads on this.

I de-badge dark colours as they do look cleaner (IMO) without a whole load of silver lettering on the back. Haven't bothered with my SL (silver).

On my recent trip to Stuttgart, it was interesting to note that, a vast majority of Mercedes-Benz cars, particularly AMG and prestigious models are de-badged ... Our, rather pathetic, attitude: "if it's a small engine - de-badge; if it's a top of the line / AMG - shout about it" - what a marked difference.

I think the ownership of a lot of dodgy old cars in need of work teaches me that the least important thing on earth is inessential cosmetics.

However, if you do have a car with bodykit that makes it look like a top of the range AMG (like a black coloured C class C63 lookalike I saw recently) leaving on the C180 badge did rather ruin the effect...

We're over there a fair bit and de-badging is generally much more common than it is here in the UK, on both low and high spec. versions of cars.

I had mine specced without the badges as I just prefer the cleaner look. If you know about these things you can generally tell spec without need for badges all over.

AMG (proper) - leave it badged, loud and proud.

I know my mate Daveenty (E63) absolutely, definitely, categorically agrees with me, as his reply to this will confirm :thumb:.

I once had a Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia.. not only did I de-badge, but then badged it up as a 1.3L!! No, not to get cheaper insurance, but just to have a quieter life. I got left alone rather than have other XR, i, Gti, etc drivers always feeling the need to 'race' me.
