To Badge or De-badge

There are a few motors near me that I see regularly that are debadged. One is an Audi A6 (I think) the other is a Volvo (model unknown) The both have ALL badges removed boot, grille, the lot. It looks confusing and makes you look twice!

A while ago I had an Audi (S8 for anyone interested) and in my customary manner, decided to take the badges off it. The one on the grill wouldn't come off as it's moulded into one of the vertical bars so I had to leave that there but apart from that one they all went.

Biggest mistake was removing the Audi "rings" from the boot lid. It just never looked right after that, though did create a bit of interest. :)

Hence my reason for the three pointed star staying on the boot lid now. On it's own, but it's still there, although I do like that black one on Tom's above. :D Hmmm......

I've debadged mine! I've also changed the colour of the merc badge to black ;)

Looks great! I've thought about painting my boot badge and grille black instead of chrome. I'd keep the original grille though and restore/paint a used one.

I don't have a choice as my 250TD was bought without them but I might make up something like C317DK to baffle the anoraks.

I'll preface the following by saying it was over 20 years ago, when I was younger!:o

Got my new Calibra 4x4 turbo, which was a quick car for 1994, had it chipped to 250bhp ......... then removed all the badges and replaced with "2.0i" bog standard spec.

Had a great time, with some quite exotic machinery wondering why they couldn't beat a 2 litre Vauxhall.

Would I do it now? Of course not, that's far too immature,;)

I bought a new badge on eBay that was already black mate. I didn't see the point in painting one when I can get one that is already black for the same price, if not cheaper.

Does any1 know where I can find decent side badges for my C55 AMG? Id love the 5.5 AMG ones but im worried there poor quality ones on ebay.

Cheers again geed, I went with those, they look better than some of the others.

I have found out that my car was originally supplied without badges. I'd expect that on a smaller model but on a 250, I would have expected to have seen them. Still, if that is the build spec, it can stay naked.

I took all the badges off the back of my E220 after seeing the picture in the Mercedes catalogue with no badges. It just looked so clean and uncluttered that I liked it.

Iv'e never bothered before this car, but on an estate in white it makes quite a difference.

I wonder how many folk de-badge. This presents a cleaner, less cluttered look, easier to clean too, and adds a little mystique..... or just leave it stock ?

Keep the badges on, say, a 280SEL. Why hide the truth that your a cheapskate. Your friends know that already. After all, you're always last to buy a round so you save a fortune over the years.

But de-badge a 450SEL 6.9. To retain a degree of mystique. And confuse the competition in the drag race off the lights.

In the W124 world, you would retain 200 badges but remove 500E.

There, my 2c worth.

De-badged my C350 - got to keep the star of course!

Easier to clean and detail properly if you're that way inclined

Also looks far better I think, and when left for dust other drivers wonder what's under the bonnet! (My number plate does start with a V6 ... so there is a clue)

Twin exhausts do set it apart from other C classes
