Keep your current car.. No other reason to change unless u r

1. image concious
2. dont like your current car
3. prefer the facelift style
4. bored.

Your new car is going the depreciate at a considerable accelerated amount, compared to your current car, and if this be the case, perhaps you could wait for the new model next year, where its residuals might be better..

overall, your current car has a lot of positiveness to it and should no be disregarded just yet..

You are prepared to run a car to at least 6 years old. It seems to me that there must be increasing uncertainty on reliability/cost as the car ages - it's just a question of when the balance shifts such that the older car becomes a pain. I suspect you are thinking along these lines given your comments about warranty etc.

The attraction of the option at the dealer is that it is a well proven, well sorted car. Personally, I would be tempted by the 09 car, but that's partly because I am yet to be convinced by the style of the 212 and partly because I have an in-built resistance to buying a car in the first few months of production (too many manufacturers do their final product testing in real life conditions on customers' drives!). Good deals on virtually new 211s will not last. By swapping now you are pretty much assuring yourself that you will have another 6 years of good motoring. And frankly if you are considering keeping the car for that long issues such as early depreciation, colour etc are largely irrelevant.

I also happen to like the V6 and the 7 speed box:)

i too cannot see the point - the grass may appear greener but your existing car is just as good. dont worry about warranty - buy a cast iron one from warranty direct - my one covers everything - cost £400 per year and even allows me to do work at offical mb dealers who charge £100 hourly rates...

Trouble with the arguments for keeping the car is that you can go on using them till it reaches end of life. Depreciation is less. Yes but repairs, problems and bills get more and more likely as the car gets older and the miles stack up. Changing every six years or so is hardly profligate.

And next year VAT will go back to at least 17.5% -probably a good deal more to help repay all the govt debt. And unless the pound recovers prices are going to have to rise. Ford have gone up 3 times in the last 5 months. The prices of the last few 211's are much lower than we shall have to pay for nearly new 212's. So changing now may not be a bad move.
