As the title says, i'm thinking of debadging my car. I think it'll possibly make the car look a bit better and stealthier, in a sense that it might get someone wondering as to what model it is. (might pass off for a C36 cuz of the exhaust?)

I like the badges for 1 reason only, i dont see C230 Kompressors very often on w202's at all... i mostly see C180's and 200's...

Could you guys help me out with what you all think? :o

IMO dark colours look 'cleaner' at the back without all that badging.

Doesn't make so much difference on a silver car.

We are funny in the uk in that we do tend to like our badges.

Most single pipe mercs are de-badged as generally they are the smaller engines, C180's for example.

In Europe you tend to find that the high end models are de-badged especially in Germany.

Anyone that know's there cars (like us lot..) pretty much know whats what. Just as I've got an AMG exhaust its never going to pass as a ML55

My dads is more promising SL500 with full SL55 kit and exhausts, I'm not sure I could tell outside the difference? It even sounds good.

At the end of the day what do you like, thats all that matters. You can always put them back on. Or put C160 on it and have some fun. I did that with a Pug Gti 205 years ago with GRD badge on the boot :)

Photoshop it and blank the badge to give you an idea...

My own view is to debadge. the car looks better for it. No fussy badges makes for a cleaner look, plus being lazy, you don't need to clean round the badge.

If people don't know what it is, that does appear to be their problem.

I go with the less is more theory really.

So it seems i will de-badge. i guess i will miss the "Kompressor" bit :(

feel free to get rid of the C230 badge & Kompressor, however dont get rid of the centre star and dont just leave kompressor; it will look cr@p.

if in doubt, leave on as they are in the correct place at the moment (i assume)

I would leave them alone and "as is".
But each to his own.
I read on a different thread that the best way to get these badges off is to use a length of dental floss.

Agreed, I also (on the w203s- I know yours is a w202) hardly/ never see C230Ks- mainly C180/200/220cdi s . Surprisingly, the ones with all the bodykits on are usually the ones with the least powerful engines...

I heard, on one of these threads, of somone who altered the 'kompressor' to match his occupation; 'professor' -which I thought was quite funny. I can't think of many other jobs which would be suited to subtle changes like this?

If you can't decide, I'd just leave it as it is :)

Looks ok to me?

I can't see it , the picture's too small ... any chance you could post a bigger one please

If you debadge it everyone will think its a 180/200 trying to be a 230k or larger.

Whenever i see any posh car with no badges i always notice the exhaust ie its usually single and small:D.

I always thought a 230k was a pretty quick car in its own right?

Leave it as it is.

Hey my exhaust isn't single and small :D

And if people do start thinking that they'll be in for a big surprise if the do try to show me up... :D

my SLK was badgeless. it had 4 pipes too.

Who cares what others think. its your car. make it look how you like. You can always stick the badges back on.

I am amused by the way everyone on here seems to 'debadge' the yellow rectangular badge in the middle of their bootlid , and the corresponding white ones on their front bumpers !

Leave the badges on. As you say, 230Ks are quite rare.

It'll say something for the quality of the paintwork if there's no fading in the non-badged areas.
PS Those scuffs and chip on the bumper needs to be fixed:devil: :D .
