I'd say leave them on and be proud your driving a Mercedes, doesn't really matter what the model is, as long you are happy.

Just don't cover it with AMG / black series badges

True, however, when I see an unbadged sporty derivative I immediately see before me a pov spec wannabee (and I'm one of those who know).
 
Oh dear, last night I ordered replacement V8 kompressor badges for the wings. I had them removed for some paint and correction about a year ago.

I'm always in two minds about badges on performance models and can see both arguments. On non performance models, I think it always smacks of trying to hide what it is as the person would rather it be something different.

An example was a gorgeous, really clear looking E500 I saw in Droitwich a while back. He had badged it up as an E55, as he went in the car park he looked embarrassed. He shouldn't of as his car looked cracking and was obviously cared for.
