Any thoughts on the benefits of doing an engine oil flush when changing the oil? Car has always been serviced on time now coming upto 6 yrs old on 50k.
Personally I've never flushed an engine but then my cars have regular oil and filter changes using appropriate and correct quality consumables. My vivid imagination sees flushing products as removing all oil from the bearing surfaces and them grinding together on start-up. The reality I'm sure is different but I never use it.
I would worry that flushing a clean engine does more harm than good. Why go to the trouble of using a quality MB spec oil only to have it diluted with the residual amount of rubbish flushing oil.
I’ve never flushed. If your car had the correct oil and filter service and you know it has, why would you. The last thing you want is a bit of leftover flushing oil in your sump.
