Sincerely hope this wasn't anyone on here: A few minutes ago I was returning from Oxford when I had this incident which could have turned into an unneccessary accident:

I just took the slip road toward Camberley / Bagshot off the A332 (Bracknell / Ascot Road) when I had to brake sharply as I saw a car reversing back down the slip road (not very clever!!!).

It was a dark blue W208 CLK with AMG badging and the licence plate MBZ 7000.

Start Rant:
Now people make mistakes, take the wrong exit & I appreciate it's quiet after midnight but theres a roundabout less than a couple of hundred yards from here. It's not very clever & what would happen if we collided? Your word against mine, that I ran into the back of you as you had to brake hard?
End Rant...

Think of it this way...if you had been something considerably larger (i.e. truck/artic sized), then it could have been the very last time they would have done it.

;) maybe he was going back for his caravan. gald your safe

Living in Camberley you should know there's a high muppet count in that area - especially those driving Mercs/BMWs/big cars etc.....

One look in Waitrose car park, Sunningdale, should be enough to convince you ;)

I came across something similar the other week, only it was an Escort in the M25 contra-flow who was reversing down their lane trying to get back to the Heathrow junction......

Maybe he had just realised that the Bar Manager had said £32K, not £32, for that bottle of Scots firewater at the Pennyhill Park. :D

LOL - pass the place regularly, never expected it to have that sort of depth to their bar stocks!

I see that the offending car has a Northern Ireland registration number but I am sure it did not have a NI driver- we don't do silly things like that !!!!

No, i doubt he was from NI....

People buy those sort of plates thinking it is a personal plate for their Merc , and they are dirt cheap ....

M ercedes B enZ 7000

These MBZ plates and the like ( TAZ,OIL,FIL )etc just make a very nice car look cheap, if you are going to go for a 'personal plate' , why not save up and get a good one ?

I properly hate Irish "personal plates"... Sorry Gina!;)

As you say, they make the car look sh1te! Not worth it IMO.

What IS an "MBZ" anyway? Or a "BNZ". Makes you look a "TWT"

Had a similar incident in Spain a few years back...I was driving along the autoroute around 85 mph and thought....I'm approaching that car quickly.
Then I realized it was reversing back up towards me as he had missed his exit..(toll road)....slammed on anchors and missed him by a few feet...its amazing how quickly it all happens

We had an airborne VW Golf miss us by a couple of metres in Belgium last year when the driver ended up on the wrong motorway after the road split. He cut across the grass divide at 80 ish MPH to get back to the bit we were on, hit a dip, and took off. Landed with a huge bang, I remember my wife screaming (it was coming in from her side about 3 or 4 feet off the ground) and me watching in slow motion trying to work out whether it was going to land directly in front of us or not.

I have a similar NI plate. Did not buy it, it was on the car. I personnally do not think that my car looks cheap. Thanks.

I have a similar plate. Thanks for the compliment.

thanks guys, I own 2 Irish plates both specific to my business.

How did a thread about dangerous driving degenerate into personal insults towards those who own Irish plates ?

Oh and MBZ6 MBZ190, MBZ124 and MBZ560 are all members of this forum.

I was surpised to see this thread resurrected too after so long! The intention at the time was to find out whether the driver of MBZ 7000 was a member of this forum

Wonder why Carrotchomper resurrected then, with insults. Must have a thing against people with nothern Ireland plates ?

Perhaps carrotchomper had a traumatic experience involving an Irish plate, and now he hates them all :D
